Petrol the new toilet roll
Re: Petrol the new toilet roll
This is a good way to prepare the public for mass adoption of EVs. You’ll spend about as much time searching for a working charging station and each charge will take 30-60 minutes
How about not having a sig at all?

Re: Petrol the new toilet roll
I didn't need fuel until I got back on Friday. Our area has been out of diesel since. I did a job today and every station I passed had run dry. The only one that had fuel was on the A303 on the opposite carriageway , but they were queuing out of the slip road onto the inside lane. Fuck that!
I'd happily queue safely for a full tank though. I won't queue for a 'top up' as I don't want to be part of the problem. Not being a selfish cunt seems to have backfired on me spectacularly though!

Cheers.

I was out and about today and saw a few stations out of fuel. Even M62 services near Brighouse at £1.52 a litre had gone. Came home and got a tank full with no problems.
Hopefully it'll settle down a bit.

Wife just texted to say that one of her colleagues had a full tank of petrol stolen overnight. What is wrong with people?

What annoys me right now is the lack of data on this. If there was a covid style dashboard showing how many petrol stations were shut, how many out of one grade etc then it might be a bit easier to plan.
I wonder if the reason that open stations still have big queues is that they are the only one serving a large region of closed pumps.
Fingers crossed for fuel by the weekend so I can get back from Scotland…

If this information (i.e. which stations do have petrol) was public, I dread to think how long the queues would be at those stations...Rich B wrote: Tue Sep 28, 2021 11:04 amah yes, the government need to spend billions on this. At the moment it just feels like there is more misinformation than there is information. E.g. 50-85% of independent retailers being out of fuel reported as 85% of all petrol stations out of fuel.

Almost-live update: I have just got a full tank of SUL from Bracknell Sainsbury's. They had no diesel though.
Re: Petrol the new toilet roll
Our local Facebook group had decided to stop posting information about which stations have fuel or have run out - "So as not to make the problem of panic buying worse"
However, they have said they WILL allow posts informing members of local traffic problems, queues etc as a public service.
Erm.. what now ??

There was a guy on the local Ascot group getting all aggro because there was a classic car auction on at the racecourse on Sunday (very big, well publicised event), and that they clearly should have cancelled it because people were coming to ascot and taking all the petrol from the local petrol stations that should be reserved for locals...

Re: Petrol the new toilet roll
Well, I'd been to site today so needed a little bit to tide me over as I was down to 1/8 of a tank. No big deal if nowhere had any as I can still wait a few days. However, the garage local to work had some 95ron so I lobbed £20-worth in. I felt dirty doing so - I never use 95ron in the 330 as it tends to not run that well on it. It'll tide me over though until things return to normal.

I noticed our local mouth-breather collective had started on the "people coming from Diss to Harleston (10-15 mins drive) for fuel and now I can't drive Kortnee-Mae 1.5 miles to school."Rich B wrote: Tue Sep 28, 2021 2:28 pm There was a guy on the local Ascot group getting all aggro because there was a classic car auction on at the racecourse on Sunday (very big, well publicised event), and that they clearly should have cancelled it because people were coming to ascot and taking all the petrol from the local petrol stations that should be reserved for locals...
