Re: Petrol the new toilet roll
Coming back from Oxford last night, all the petrol stations in towns/cities had either massive queues or were closed, while those outside of towns seemed fine. I managed to fill up on the A34 without a problem (holiday back on: yessss).
Meanwhile I notice the bbc news online isn’t running anything about the panic buying, nor is it on the front pages now. Almost like they realise what they have done…
Although the Mail is keen to point out that it’s not their fault, it’s all down to some awful remoaner https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... C-man.html

Went round to see sister-in-law for her birthday then off up to Dad for his. One BP on the A23 had fuel so was causing massive queues. On the way back the Esso on the other side of the road had a tanker delivering so there was already a massive queue of cars waiting to use it despite the barriers still being up.

Making it quick and easy for people to become tanker drivers means fuel will soon be on its way;

Re: Petrol the new toilet roll
All the cars he’ll run off the road while delivering will decrease demand too. Win win
An absolute unit
Re: Petrol the new toilet roll
The situation seems worse now, I’m hearing it’s pretty much all out in Kent and driving through London one petrol station had a 1/3 mile queue with Police trying their best to manage it so that the cars didn’t block the main road too much. Got past the petrol station and saw it’s all out waiting for a lorry to refill!
I can probably hold out until the weekend.

How about not having a sig at all?

I've been ahead of the curve on that one for years.

Tinfoil Hat social media post of the day...
"Petrol has a finite shelf life and 'expires'. Due to lockdown and home working, the fuel companies had massive stockpiles that was about to become worthless. So they got together with their Media mates (who are all shareholders in the fuel companies) to create a panic to sell off fuel stocks before they expired.
Open your eyes People!"

Re: Petrol the new toilet roll
Bumped into the MD this morning, who comes in from 100+ miles away in a Range Rover SVR - he can't find petrol either
Gave him a couple of suggestions including a local Texaco that seemed to have cars in it when I went past (late on my way to work....) this morning, which he shot off to
Came back in, chucked me his company card and told me to throw thirty quid in my car too before that place ran out
So, thirty quid of free super in my tank (no regular) for being helpful - can't argue with that.
And yes, there was a queue.

I got the train to Skipton this morning so walked to the train station, which is about 6 miles, the 2 fuel stations I passed were both completely out
Glad I've got 700 miles of range in the Jag, I think the Volvo has half a tank so about 400 miles in that hopefully, all the morons should have a full tank by tommorow and that should be this over.

I've not really been paying attention to this because I rarely need to go anywhere, but now I need to do a run to Leicestershire, and I've just been to look for petrol and the four closest petrol stations are all completely out of fuel.
When are we getting back to normal ? I want to do the trip this week.

maybe put all the fuel from your 11 cars into one (or two, with one being towed by the other, then ditch the tow car when it runs dry) and head out!Sundayjumper wrote: Mon Sep 27, 2021 2:23 pm I've not really been paying attention to this because I rarely need to go anywhere, but now I need to do a run to Leicestershire, and I've just been to look for petrol and the four closest petrol stations are all completely out of fuel.

Re: Petrol the new toilet roll
I'm out in both work vehicles now. The family bus is down to half a tank, so I'm hoping my local fuel stations re-stock soon so we can do the work we have booked in.
Makes you want to be selfish too though.

maybe you should have queued....!Gwaredd wrote: Sat Sep 25, 2021 8:52 am My van is empty, my car has about 50 miles left. I'm not queuing for it when I know there will be nobody at the pumps next week, as everyone's tanks are now full and deliveries are continuing as normal.
Re: Petrol the new toilet roll
Nobody wants to go to Leicestershire, it's either a euphemism or you've bought something else (not fuel).

I'm not saying the mee-djah caused the situation,. but they're not helping; https://www.kentonline.co.uk/thanet/new ... ng-254644/
