Didn't watch it last night but I just woke up after having a dream about the match. Emma was getting frustrated and missing easy shots so I walked onto the court ,picked up the ball, and threw it over the net so that it would bounce off the wall at the far side of the room (we magically transitioned from a huge stadium to an indoor court in a gym) and return to me over the net. I tried to use my hand to hit it back and play tennis by myself in this way but didn't do very well. Both Emma and her opponent were enjoying the comic relief that I provided, and after that she was relaxed and able to play well.

Glad to see that it helped :D

Yeah, that was a great watch. Fernandez looked good as well, she can hit a pretty fierce shot!

Although Fernandez didn't cover herself in glory with all that ridiculous smiling at her box and complaining about the medical stoppage.

No - she came across a bit of an arse at both of those moments.

I am no enormous tennis fan (I like a bit of Wimby but that’s about it) - I was amazed how fast the game was last night on a hard surface. Proper quick, and how TF do relatively small and lightweight people (regardless of gender) belt a ball like that. 😮

I was thinking exactly the same. Haven't sat and watched a game of women's tennis for a long time, I feel like the game has moved on since the last time I watched it!

They're not that small. Fernandez is 5'6" and Raducanu 5'9" ish.

I had never heard of her until this past week when the Express had their front page with "sod off refugees" on one side and then some pish about how they loved the tennis girl.

That's above average height! And to answer your original question: training.

Good to see Piers Morgan taking some reaonsibility for her win, apparently slagging her on Twitter was the kick she needed

That's another reason Raducanu is predicted to eclipse Andy Murray's tennis fortune. She has model height and looks and her photo won't just be gracing the sports pages. Manufacturers, retailers and designers will all want to be associated with her image and they will queue up to give her the stuff she can now easily afford to buy.

Good luck to her. Last night was a pleasure to watch.

I see the outcry trying to ruin a national success.

I see toad face has made an utter arse of himself again!

If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.
