Just went for a drive in the Caterham to the brewery to collect beer ready for tonight.

Pretty sure I'm not selling it.

Im in the same place with the Elise. Ive got serious want for a V6 Exige (Which is im sure where you are on this path Ste). but that would mean selling the Elise and the Golf to afford it. Then i drive the Elise and think to myself "Nah i cant sell this yet".

The sell two for one plan would involve a cheap runabout purchase as well as when i go to the office the car get parked at the park and ride. Not a chance in hell would i Leave a V6 Exige there. Thoughts for that swing between a SAAB 9-3 Aero, Civic Type R or a Leon Cupra....But then i Drive the R and think.....

Hmmm.

A shot in Mudge's V6 would probably be unadvisable...

C4 update:
Had new calipers, pipes, disks and pads for the MOT a couple of months ago.

Last night, the pipe into the rear passenger side caliper decided it had enough of containing brake fluid, and freed lots and lots of it all over the place, meaning no brakes. So he stopped in Old Malton and called me, because he had no jack on him.

So, drive 50 miles to Malton with a jack and some choice tools. We whipped the wheel off, took a look; pinhole in the pipe. Fuck it, crimp it off the flexi with mole grips to maintain pressure, zip tie mole grips to the shock, limp it home, and get our tame mechanic to make a pipe tomorrow.

Ah, no. He wanted to try to fix the hole with tape, zip ties, a screw clip and some rubber piping he had.

After two hours of that - now 10:30pm - he crimped off the brake flexi pipe to maintain pressure and limped it home.

He got home back of midnight, I got in closer to 1am.

Still not entirely sure why that pipe popped, but it looks like the U in it was a bit tight, so it might have been a friday afternoon job on the mechanics part, but these things happen.

I've suggested my bro get breakdown cover...

In more mundane news, the Volvo went back to Cleland's due to a warning message and a rattle. One new Clutch Position Sensor later all fixed. Apparently the rattle is "after market pads" on the rear which are safe but somehow rattle.

I also got roof bars for it for cheap so I can stick bikes/kayaks/roof boxes on the top.

It is my first experience of a derv with more than 4 cylinders and whilst I would prefer a petrol 5 cylinder warble, the derv unit does sound far better than all previous 4 bangers.

Oh and the Saab got some Kumho tyres on the front which I have yet to drive as my wife kindly picked it up.

Christ I forget how much tighter these are to get into than the Evora.

Booked in to have the erroneous blown indicator bulbs message looked at. MPS4s have been on for 300 miles, the car is a lot quieter and the ride is softer. I’m not convinced the handling hasn’t suffered though as understeer seems to have increased.
