5 doors down have some jobbers in doing a garden clearance all week, mostly green stuff (conifer). Today the wind pointed our way so the cars and garden are covered in ash, the air stinks and we've had to abandon our usual evening garden games. Evidence taken of course. Confronted but meh we can do what we want.
Thinking about stuffing through an invoice for 2 x car wash & house windows wash?
FAO legal begals (OK, let's face it, Jobbo)

It doesn’t take a legal bod to know you haven’t got a leg to stand on

Thanks, Boss.

If they’ve finished then wash your cars and get on with life. Not worth getting in a twist over a one off event that couldn’t have been helped anyway.

The chaps came round and played the bleeding heart card. I know, it's live and let live, but it's hard when you have worked all day, the kids have been good and want to play in the garden to unwind but it's Silent Hill.

Go on then, what recourse can you have against someone down the road burning garden waste? I know our council website says you can do nothing until they class it as a persistent nuisance.
Re: FAO legal begals (OK, let's face it, Jobbo)
Unless there’s negligence (which is pretty unlikely unless they set fire to your property), you’re reliant on nuisance. So the council website is right.

I'd swap a bit of ash for the almost daily bird shite on my car.
