We've given up on going back to Ireland now in August and are trying to find something in the UK.

We're going to get fleeced, paying an extortionate amount of money for run of the mill accommodation but we really need a holiday.

Ferries to Ireland pushed back to October - lets hope things are different then.

While its great to see more reopening, the decision to stick to the February road map when we have learned a lot more seems foolish.

Small things like face masks and social distancing being mandatory until we have fully vaccinated and got a hold on things will surely save lives and lessen the risk of another variant evolving. The scientists seemed to be meekly disagreeing with the PM last night,

I thought you could get into ROI if you're double vaccinated without having to quarantine? (This seemed to be the case when I looked back in June)

Travelling outside of the UK is still too much of a PITA at the moment, IMO. Which is kind of why I ended up going to the Outer Hebrides instead.

We booked our holidays several months ago but foolishly didn't book evening meals and are now finding that little corner of Pembrokeshire quite full. I always get a bit annoyed when the hotel you are staying at tells you that they can't seat you for dinner.

Speaking of staycationing, friend of mine is staying in Inverness and doing day trips out (Did Loch Ness on Sunday, Skye yesterday) and they're going through Thurso now. Like, right now.

Sending me pics, and I'm annotating them. "Ah, yes, that's Skinandies nightclub, where I regularly got wasted and finished the night with a scotch pie you could get as you left. And if you look to the right you might see a wall where I once rammed some gobby neds face until he stopped talking or being able to talk, the difference is immaterial, the point is I felt better afterwards..." etc.

Bringing back memories. Not necessarily good ones, but memories nonetheless.

As of today - ROI from the UK is 14 Days of Quarantine but can be shortened to 10 days with a negative test, or 5 days if double dosed and with a negative test. They're absolutely terrified of the Delta Variant so if anything, this is going to get more stringent. There's also ZERO information about unvaccinated minors (My Boy's 14) and whether that means 5 days or 10 days quarantine for him.

The test can only be booked a few days before departure too so it might be 5 days quarantine, might be 6 or 7. We can only go over for a maximum of 11 days over the holidays to it's just to risky. We'll try again in October half term - Ferry can be moved and accommodation over there can be cancelled.

Anyhoo, we're a static booked in a holiday park in Great Yarmouth now. A little less than ideal but it's a chance to get away, change of scenery. We've been staring at these 4 walls for a year and a half now.

Yarmouth just up the road from me, hardly ever go there as we prefer Horsey or Wells, everywhere on the coast will undoubtedly be packed though.

Well probably be doing day trips to National Trust/English Heritage spots in Norfolk. Have enjoyed Blickling and Ickworth in the last month.

Sounds like won't be able to turn around in Norfolk without tripping over evo people.

We had a week in Cornwall In May and it was like being there at the height of the summer holidays even then. I don't envy anyone visiting this summer, the m5 sounds like a disaster zone every Friday afternoon on the travel news.

The Forbidden Corner is great. Come out of there keep going up and visit Aysgarth Falls, then Hawes, over the Buttertubs and onto the Richmond road. Drive past the Punchbowl at Feetham and take the next right after the village over a bridge. Follow that narrow little road right over the top of the Dale back to Askrigg then head home. Epic scenery and a lovely ride out.

Yeah Im nearly 50 so it was a very long time ago. There used to be massive queues to get in in Summer so cant have been that bad at the time.

Even more reason to visit North Yorkshire. You'll actually have some scenery to admire
