So what’s new?..

Post by IanF »

Hello all,

Been lurking trying to catch up with the gossip.. roll call seems to have lost Rev and gained a few newbies. Shame Rev’s gone but I hope he’s happier outside OV9 and glad this place has got some new blood!

I’m still in the throws of getting divorced… court hearings (slow), solicitor and barrister fees (£££) and the ex being an absolute nightmare are pretty much the summary. Divorce, COVID and 53% salary for a year has pretty much left me broke and exhausted but can’t complain really as plenty of people have had it much worse off..

Ive managed to lose the X5, sold mid last year to WBAC for just under £30k, which was nice as they offered £18k in Jan just before they stopped offering all together!

I’ve got the two dogs… and a convertible :?

But they’re okay… even with the roof down. I’ve done 20000 miles in the last 18 months in the M4 and I love it more now than I ever did when it just went to the airport and back. It’s been faultless bar an expensive 4 tyres needing replacing at the same time (50:50 weight distribution :geek: ) and a cracked windscreen :| . It’s started collecting water in the rear panel where the rear window drops into so may need to check the drain holes… anyone know where they are!?

Tried the new M3 for half a day.. a very quick but also very, very quiet car! Not sure, but the Touring could be my next family car.. or an RS4 (tried RS6 - too big), or maybe an X3M, X5M50d, etc

I like the colour and only caught myself once on the (otherwise comfortable) seats..

I bought the ex a new 5 door Manuel Mini Cooper - great fun and a bargain at £220pcm on lease for two years.

Girlfriend bought a new hybrid Evoque - I organised the installation of the charger and that’s been the only smooth part of her ownership.. it’s currently with JLR with a broken gearbox and has been for over two months. This will be the third time it’s been in (broken satnav/infotainment system and hybrid issues previously).. not great on a 6 month old car that was already delayed due parts issues when ordered! Think it may get rejected.

Anyway, that’s enough for now and will probably have to edit to de-Barry the photos anyway, so..

ETA yep!.. twice!
Cheers,

Ian

You have my sympathies - divorces are stressful and hideously expensive. I've just paid my last maintenance payment last Friday, just the house to sell now.

Not sure how long you've been away. I'm now running a 2021 XC40 as a family bus and a 1987 928 S4 for weekend fun/spending large piles of cash on.
If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.

Welcome back Ian! I was gonna ask if anyone had heard from you.

From someone in the 'divorce' club, I've a joke for you.

Why is divorce so expensive?
Because it's worth it.

I now have a Jaaaaaag and my own house. Was the Ferrari a casualty of the divorce?

How can an RS6 feel big considering your company vehicle?

Thanks Delphi… 928‘s are lovely! I’ve a lot of catching up to do

Simon - lol! 👍

Hey Jimmy

Still got the Ferrari but it’s days are probably numbered..

Just about to rent a house in Windsor.. I think buying will be waiting until next year at the earliest.

Who knows Gavin, my industry is really struggling.. I’m working and the US is open, I’m there a lot.. all the other Europeans are flying passengers in, but we’re not, even with our more successful vaccination rate.

Zoe.. erm, I’m sure it does it’s job adequately 😉
Cheers,

Ian

Welcome back Ian.

Not that the dealers seem to know anything but I haven't had a car since Jan when I sold the M340i Touring and recently enquired about an M3 Touring and was told they aren't in the pipeline !

A girl friend already ! When my wife figures out I'm a dickhead and leaves me undoubtedly broke I can see myself lasting for years with it being just me and the dogs 😎😜

Sounds like you've had a tough few months. At least your front door is probably safer from parking related mishaps going forward ;)

Hopefully the new girlfriend isn’t one to smash Ian’s back door instead.

Hi Ian. Nice to have you back.

20k miles in 18 months is nothing 😄 Just turned over 34000 miles in 15 months, wondering whether anything else would do the job any better than my Merc CLS Shooting Brake.

Good luck getting the divorce finalised anyway 😃

Ey up. What came first, the divorce or the girlfriend? Sorry to hear about the problems. I thought BMW had announced they were going to make the M3 Touring :? At least the pups look happy in the back of the cab if they don't 8-)

Good to see you again Ian. Is that the Long Walk in the background on the M3 pics?
