Love seeing a nice masking job. As with so many things a decent paint job is 90% prep work, 10% actually painting

The problem with a Land Rover is that a decent respray means that it no longer looks original, as the factory didn’t care after about 1970!
I like that they’ve taken the trouble to strip loads of it down without me asking, even separating the second skin on the safari roof.

Jag saga update

Apologetic phone call yesterday from service manager offering a half price service. Said I would consider it.

Today an ‘ABS fault’ warning flashes up while driving back from London. Presumably a sensor has been upset by them replacing the discs.

Emailed the service manager suggesting they fix this and do the service.

Fan controller on the Galaxy now replaced and fans are coming on. Booked in with mechanic on Tuesday for an inspection and coolant flush. Annoyingly I can't get either of my code readers to work. ELMConfig one wouldn't connect to the car. AutoPhix one just bought just doesn't turn on which means it presumably can't connect to the car either. Will ask the mechanic if his works, to rule out the OBD port.

Zoe should be back with us next week. They'd found additional damage, so had to wait for more parts from France. Loaner Corsa is still unpleasant to drive.

Boxster needs gearbox oil change. I suspect it won't make it any sweeter.

Fabia survived a load of abuse at a part smooth/part bumpy as hell autosolo at Brooklands. As a bonus I won a diddy little trophy.

Yes that is a 190E next to me. 2.4 auto. Not ideal for such a pursuit but it sounded nice.

Defender fixed finally and a boost gauge installed. Which shows me I can’t make more than 0.85 bar so my wastegate is either leaking or is weak.

Service done on the TT after all the work last week. It needed it.

Galaxy back from mechanic. He found nothing wrong, so should have dodged a bullet. Coolant flushed and hopefully that'll be the end of it.

Had a day on the road working and have to say as a company vehicle you could do a lot worse than a boxster. 30 mpg is acceptable

I'm wondering what to get next. With all the 60 mph bits of motorway to reduce pollution and camera network, there's little point in anything fast.

Not my fleet, however, the FF's rear seat entertainment system wasn't working when my dad bought it. Went back to Ferrari and turns out it needed a new DVD cartridge unit thingy in the boot. How much I hear you say?

FIVE GRAND!! Holy moly. Certainly wise to spend the extra and get one with a dealer warranty. Well - that or just put up with stuff breaking and hope that "stuff" doesn't include the Enzo engine under the bonnet :?

The main body is now complete, just the doors, bonnet and roof to do!

If you don’t have it, find the waterproofing manual for your model. It shows where to put dum dum paste and grease etc to keep the water out.

Kind of.

 What exactly were you getting for £5k? I'm picturing those squares of plastic with 5 slots you 'load' into the player....I assume it's more than that!

There was some mention of a screen as well. I wonder if they had to rip out and replace the whole rear seat entertainment package. That would at least make some sense with all the labour that would involve.

Do you have a secret stash of dum dum?! This one was surprisingly dry before it was pulled apart, only leaking through a grommet where a flashing blue light used to be unless it was a torrential downpour.
My defender drips on my head if left for an extended period in winter and my Series IIA gradually gives you a wet crotch if you’re foolish enough to drive it for more than an hour and it happens to rain.
