2021 WSM

Post by V8Granite »

I’ve been following this solely on YouTube for the past few years. Don’t read if you want to wait till Boxing Day :D

Finally a proper strength event with heavy weights, the first since 2017. Mobility shouldn’t be a huge factor in the competition imo.

Great to see the monster JF Caron back and on form, the Stoltman brothers doing a great showing, especially Luke who did far better than expected, all the world record training he did the last 12 months really paid off.

Gutted about Brian shaw, it will be his last real chance to equal Zadrunas Zavickas who is basically the best strongman to have ever existed but Tom Stoltman has grown into a monster this last year with his Stones world records and other such things.

I can see this being a U.K. (Scotland) dominated WSM for a good few years yet, he is only 27!! To beat Brian Shaw at what is his best in quite a few years is a massive achievement.

I picked up a 70kg Stone once and decided it wasn’t for me 😂.

Tom did one weighing 286kg 😮. I think that’s what Brian Shaw will now go for as he is rumoured to have done one quite a bit bigger.

It's been years since I watched a WSM, I'll need to look it up on youtube. Good to see a Scottish winner, even if he is a Hun

If we are doing that then we need a North and South of the river split aswell, that’s deeply important to Essex folk.

No contest there, I'm afraid. I'm big, but based on Dave's previous posts about his efforts, I don't stand a chance. I've never done big numbers lifting.

I disagree  I think there needs to be a balance between the two and generally they've managed to get it about right. There does seem to have been more moaning about it in recent years, since 2017 in fact - that all came from Bjornson's camp didn't it?

Tom Stoltman is a total beast though and I was fairly sure after watching the 2020 comp that he'd be pushing for the title this year. Great to see.

They’ve got CrossFit for all that useable mobility rubbish. I just want to see a big bloke flip a car 😎

Weren't the champions all Icelandic for years? That's what I remember anyway from when I last watched it.

I hope that trophy is really fucking heavy that only someone really fucking strong could lift it and hold it in one hand like that.

Magnus vet Magnusson was a beast for years. So was Pudjanowsky.

Manfred Horrbel was a favourite of mine, biggest arms in the world for a while I think till he had a pretty big car crash.

He did this aswell which was pretty awesome 😎

That’s a WSM event, keep putting fatties on till one of them lands in the custard.

You can have 50 competitors at once. That’s Mito’s optimal Speedo-viewing quantity.
