The E46 is one of the last German cars to come out before everything started getting silly big and they forgot how to do simple design though.

As a car I’d probably prefer a manual E90 but as a design the E46 is top of the pile imo.
I get what you mean - the E46 is a very clean design. I think they're a little bland though. For me the E92 just strikes the right balance with its bodywork. Anything after the E9x just does nothing for me - totally OTT like a cheap tat bodykit.

Yeah, I do agree with this. I spotted an E46 M3 convertible a few weekends ago; the chap was getting some proper pics for it at an English Heritage site. I hadn't seen one is ages and was reminded of just how well proportioned it is. It looked mega! Made my 6 look a bit messy... Oh well.

Although, many won't agree with me, but the E46 has to be on the 19's. 18's were too small, IMO.

Get out 😂. 19's were bling and horrid. 18's were much better proportioned. 😘

CSL has 19s. Therefore these are the correct choice.

CSL wheels look epic. I was talking about the normal wheels.

the proportions are the same for either design of 19s though.

Those blingy diamond cut 19s "look" too big to my eyes. The CSL wheels just look right.

so it's the look you prefer, not the proportions?

They look better proportioned although they are the same size.

The CSL's are obviously the correct choice. Rich's looked the nuts with them. But if we're picking between the standard wheels, I always felt the blingy wheels suited the car better. They filled the arches and made it look more purposeful 8-)

Whatever wheels, they need lowering at the front. The 19s were the wheels for the flashy new m3 at the time, but personally I really like them lowered and on the 18s with spacers and suitably chunky track focussed tyres.

Yes! The 18's allow for the right amount of sidewall to look perfect.

Original 19’s were a bit shiney-American looking, but the CSL wheels are an all-time classic design (see Z3M also) that they win. Everything.

Photo job came up in Glasgow for the weekend not far from the draw bridges and moat of @mik's Estate. So I made him cook us breakfast and left him the sacrifice of Mrs A and Smallest A whilst we disappeared to shoot this.

I have to say though it looks better in the pictures! A nice thing but not much interest for me. Its a bit wrong wheel drive for my likings. The chap selling it after a discussion is now looking for an elise!
