I haven’t picked it up yet, but my Series 3 is finally back on the road after a 6+ year break.

Old pic - it’s had new doors and one wing outer, so looks like a Panda at the moment, not that I’ve seen it. I don’t think I’ve seen it for at least two years.

It failed the last mot and needed it a chassis. Trailered it to a friend of a friend who said he’d do it for £800 plus parts in 3 months.
Four years later it was unfinished, and had some of the decent original parts missing. Had to pay £600 to get it back, then dropped it at my trusted mechanic to fit between jobs. Another £1800 labour later (and a load of parts) and its roadworthy.
It’s now got a Turner Engineering performance cam, electronic ignition and new twin choke Weber - almost a race car!
Just need to sort out a respray now. Would like it on the road before September.

For the Landy nerds here it’s a very late Series, originally the chief constable’s car in a large order of Range Rovers for the Manchester Met. 40,000 miles and about 6 owners from new.

That cost is also pretty cheap as bodywork prices (good bodywork, not knackered crap) are stupidly expensive.

I was merely operating the walk behind dumper. Final load and I’ve built up quite a platform of earth on the side of the hill. So there’s landslide and the dumper just goes off the edge of the hill, bouncing in dramatic fashion

I’ve just agreed £3k painted with the glass out with the body shop that did my red Landy over fifteen years ago, which still looks good, so I’m hopeful for a decent job - We’ll find out in four weeks!

He’d had a tough time personally, but had loads of opportunities to just tell me to pick it up as he couldn’t sort himself out and finish it.
It was a shame, but as with many Land Rover mechanics he had the technical ability, but no idea how to be organised and professional.

M140i went past 70,000 miles today. Cracking car! Great for doing long drives, fun and a handful when getting up it and super reliable. Nowt breaks, nowt falls off and it still drives well. Only 4 months left with it though

The ‘rivers’ diagonally crossing the road half way down hills are always fun on the a30. I’ll be leaving the white Land Rover down there when it’s finished - just need to decide if I want to suffer the 260 mile journey in it, or in the relative comfort of the Defender with the Series 3 on a trailer...

You don't feel they're a proper mechanic unless they have numerous projects in various states of disrepair sitting around the workshop...

Slight clanking from left side, front to middle I think. Also an "ABS and ESP inactive" warning popped up during a thunder storm with massive hail.

Dropped at garage, hoping an ABS ring or similar. I'd have suspected bushes but for the warning but perhaps the rattling knocked a sensor.....

If I don’t get the Land Rover down there myself I might trade a week in the house for relocating it from South Leicestershire!

Are you making good use of the emerging cafe scene in Newquay? Sam at Pavilion is our default, but my kids always want the cinnamon buns at grounded, and my sister reckons Basket has the best cakes anywhere.
