DMS Maps?

Post by Gavin »

Anyone ever bought such a thing? Ideally for the 3.0 V6 Merc diesel.

Says it goes from 231 to 288 but the newer standard car has 265ish and seems to be better on MPG, by 4 -5 MPG so wondered if anyone had real world experience of a similar map and knows rough costs please?

Not used them but have remapped cars. DMS have a good rep.

I can’t say any have improved MPG after their map, but they weren’t any worse, and there was more performance available.

The requirements for power don’t change - you have the same mechanical and aerodynamic losses, so unless the oem map is set very rich or the timing is less advanced than it could be (neither easy in a diesel) I have never been very clear where mpg improvements are generated?

No, I wondered as well. I did find a map described as an economy map giving 265bhp but scunnered if I can remember were I saw it.

Given it is a two ton barge, it shifts well enough but a little more poke never hurt anyone....

I sent them an email requesting for a quote a few years ago. Sent a couple of follow ups but never got a response.

I'd probably call them and see if they actually do want your custom rather than emailing or contacting through the website.

For a car like that I would avoid DMS, they will be 2/3 times the price of the normal places - see who’s well regarded on the forums, Celtic tuning did a good job on my crafter and had super chips maps previously.

DMS/Lichfield woudl be my go to with the likes of a mclaren 720/ AMG GT-R.

Ah cheers. Having been in Saabs for years I am up on their tuning but a novice for others. I guess DMS is more a Hirsch map than a Noob tune then, same job, fraction of the price.

I have seen Celtic tuning pop up a few times when Tuning has been the subject so will have a nose at them.
