Anyone used AutoDoc for parts?

I need to source a radiator for the XJ, and http://autodoc.co.uk has a pattern part for about 25% of everyone else I can find. I've a feeling they might ship from Germany which possibly means I'll never see it because we've taken back control. Or have to pay half as much again in duty because we've taken back control some more.

Yeah, and it took them near a month to deliver a spring.

No extra customs charges, but the spring was sitting at customs for three weeks before it got through.

Don't do it - unless you can afford to sit and wait for ages, it's not time critical, you can't source it from anywhere else, etc.

I ordered from Elise Shop in the netherlands (in January). Still waiting for it arrving. Had to raise a paypal case to get a refund. As beany said - not worth the hassle.

I used them a couple of years ago and even then it took longer than expected.

A real shame as they list a lot of stuff that I just can't find anywhere else.

I ordered my air springs from them last month, arrived in just over a week.

Before then items took between a week and 2 weeks, this is all post Brexit.

If it’s not time sensitive it’s a bit like EPC where the percentage discounts change all the time, I saved over £200 on the springs alone just from waiting a bit.

Do you have a local Rad place than can re-core or refurb the existing one. I've never bought a pattern radiator as its always been cheaper to get one refurbished locally.

Yes. I spoke to a local rad specialist this afternoon as it happened.

I've bought the only one left on eBay now, "guaranteed" leak free, which will be here before the weekend so I can swap it out. Then I'll send the original to be re-cored and flog it on eBay to get some of my money back. XJ8 rads are like rocking horse poo at the moment, you can't even get a new one due to some supply chain issue, so that might even net me a few more quid.

Used them loads, since brexit for porsche parts, no issues just if you need them quickly look elsewhere.

Why not keep the re-cored one as spare? If the 'new' one is guaranteed leak free, it may not be leak free forever and you then may regret selling a known good one.

I ordered a Mercedes 190 heater control valve for the 928 (same part but from Porsche it's £70, the Mercedes one is £20) from them. Shipped in no time but took two weeks to arrive. Whether this was a customs issue or a courier issue I have no idea. There wasn't any additional duty to pay or anything, it was just slow delivery.

I use them for all my car bits and quite a few tools with no problems. Last two orders took 2 or 3 days longer than expected but that was fine.

Anyone used Autodoc recently? It's the only place coming up with the correct springs for the 330, and they're half the price of what BMW are after.

It's not that time critical - I certainly won't be fitting them in the next week or so, but I don't want to be hanging about too long.

They delivered the wrong part if you scroll through to the 14 Feb posts. There are a few comments about them, but they do seem often to be the only place where there is stock.

The initial brexit shit seems to be sorted now. I had stuff from Germany within days of ordering - via ebay.

I hadn't read that thread of his yet - interesting to see his experiences with them though and comments regarding it being a marketplace.

Nowhere seemingly has any stock of the correct springs at the moment - I thought I'd lucked out seeing the Sachs version pop up on Amazon (£41 each delivered!) but they're out of stock as well.

So aside from BMW direct Autodoc is the only other option at the moment. But given the various model-dependant spring options the reviews I've seen of Autodoc getting it right don't fill me with much confidence.

Bit late but AutoDoc are great! Even if you don't end up using them then their x-ref system gives you plenty of info to order from elsewhere. You just have to do your research.

What are they? Haven't had any decent local motor factors for donkeys years round here - it's GSF or ECP. Neither of them has stock of Sachs or Bilstein, and similarly there's nowt on ebay.
