Re: The Watches Thread
After yesterday's delivery SNAFU the watch was delivered this morning, so I suppose they managed the "before 1pm *a* day, rather than next day.
It wears really well and is very different in the metal to how it looked in pictures. It feels like a quality piece of kit and certainly has far better detailing than my old watch.

You’re welcome Alex
It has a wonderfully 3D face, the depth of the hour markers being particularly interesting. Great watch.

Re: The Watches Thread
Yes, the depth of it surprised me. I'm liking wearing it.

Re: The Watches Thread
Not sure if this interests anyone. Looks like a nice watch but can't say I've heard of the brand before. Around £240 new but listed on eBay for £75 with a best offer. Says it's only been worn 2 or 3 times.

Ernest Jones have an extra 15% off their sale prices at the moment if anyone is thinking of buying.
This Certina auto chronograph caught my eye, £497 with the extra reduction.

Christopher Ward have released a new watch today, the C63 Sealander.

Quite a nice looking watch.

Re: The Watches Thread
Funny you should note that @John - my copy of the CW magazine “Loupe” dropped through the door today and I had exactly the same thought.
At 39mm it’s a bit small though

Re: The Watches Thread
The Explorer II homage looks nice - genuinely, in some respects I think it looks better than the real Explorer II. And at 39mm it's 3mm smaller, which is a positive IMO.
Re: The Watches Thread
I’m not a fan of the Explorer II and that feeling continues to Chr Ward’s rip-off version.
Re: The Watches Thread
I think I'd go for the black GMT, not sure which strap though.
Jobbo, I came close to buying a white explorer II a few years ago as it was something different from the rest of the Rolex range.

Re: The Watches Thread
The Milgauss is different and massively more appealing to me.
Re: The Watches Thread
Right that’s 3 times in a row the M-word has been mentioned.... like Candyman @Maurice is sure to appear....
Re: The Watches Thread
(Still love my M-word)

Oh look, a £100 CW voucher dropped through the letter box today

I have a particular liking of the Blaken Viper Green modified Milgauss:
Re: The Watches Thread
I don't understand why they do that. Might as well lower all the watches by £100 because that's the actual price.

Re: The Watches Thread
I think it possibly worked for them in the early days - to build the brand. I don’t think it makes any sense today - with information shared so widely - “everyone” waits for the periodic sales or release of vouchers before purchasing, unless it is a ltd edition or people are happy to pay extra to get something quickly. I didn’t pay full price for either of my CW’s (although waiting for the sale meant I nearly missed out on my C1000 - I got the last one they sold after someone bought in the sale and then changed their mind).
