Re: BBQs
Nice one Duncs. His website hurts my eyes (and I can't find that recipe on it, for example) so I might get that book.
Hoping to pick up some charcoal this week assuming I can escape work for half an hour at some point.

Yeah, I didn't really get on with the website (plus I think some recipes are behind a pay wall), but I highly recommend the book. I also found it worthwhile to read the beginning rather than just going straight to the recipes if you've got time.
Happy to stick up pictures of the recipes, but in reality it's three (one for the rub, one for the sauce, and one for the meat). Might be easier just to get the book, some great stuff in there. I fancy trying beef short rib next, would love to do a brisket too but it's 12 hours and I don't think I know enough people to eat it all!

Re: BBQs
Ribs look good Duncs. If you're looking for other barbeque styles to experiment with, Carolina is a good place to start. Lots of pork and the sauces aren't as cloying as what we traditionally think of as barbeque sauce.

Re: BBQs
I've just bought a cheap 4 burner with a side burner from Sainsbury's, said missing 2 wheels on the box and bolts and was 120 quid down from 200.
Thought I'll just pinch them off the old bbq.
Opened it when I got home, the wheels and the bolts were in a black box inside the grill which was still sellotaped closed

Re: BBQs
The book has South, East, and West Caroline sauces in it.

That goes down as a win.16vCento wrote: ↑Wed Mar 31, 2021 1:05 pm I've just bought a cheap 4 burner with a side burner from Sainsbury's, said missing 2 wheels on the box and bolts and was 120 quid down from 200.

If you want a real challenge, I think it's East Carolina where the crowning achievement is a slow cooked whole pig that's then chopped up and marinaded in cider vinegar and spices. How big is your barbeque?

Re: BBQs
We decided it was time to update our 10yr old gas bbq this year - partly cos it is a budget-sequel model with an enamel grate that is a PITA to keep clean.
I decided to flatter @duncs500 and @Jobbo but went up a size for extra capacity. It’s feckin massive....

Re: BBQs
I used WD40 to good effect but I’m sure your big bottle smells nicer.
Looks grate. I find the circular insert in the grate on mine annoying since it has a few indents which are awkward to clean, but the other side is half the width of yours. Makes me wonder if I should get another grate from the 410. Though looking again, it’s not the same width as the circular insert side so maybe that wouldn’t work.

Re: BBQs
I'm planning to invest in a set of grill grates for mine at some point.
