I had mine at the end of the clock and the panoramic roof sounded like it could have blown off at any given moment 😂

Car was still very stable though, I bet the clubman would be more stable still.

New car collected today
Image

It is not silent, but very quiet and quite nippy.

Steering is overly assisted and I'll have to get used to Renault ways of doing things.

First annoyance is that the manual doesn't fit in the glovebox.

Will get better pictures when it isn't raining.

I was the top student in the Beany School of Potatography I'll have you know.

It is a 68 plate Signature Nav with 18k on the clock. Needs new mats and a better clean than the dealer gave it.

Range shows as 144 miles with the battery at 96%.

Second annoyance: mirrors don't fold when you lock it.

Having a Zappi charger installed on Tuesday. Rang a local installer who came round same day, he recommended it, so that was an easy decision (and helped by @mik having firsthand experience).

That’s pretty good - I had to wait 6 weeks before our charger install as demand is high! (Although ours was more complex than most due to separate garage building).

Yes, that's why we jumped. He had the unit already, so offered it to us. If we wanted a black one instead it would have to be in 5-6 weeks when he could get one delivered.

I asked about some of the others I had looked at. He doesn't do Pod-Point, and when I asked about Rolec he suggested I look elsewhere. As he recommended Zappi unprompted, that seems a good sign to me.

Merc update: I have broken the parking brake (the release handle is all floppy and the foot pedal won't stay down) but I just leave it in P.

And I now palletise my loads:

ETA: the electric steering column has got stuck too, but it's in a perfectly reasonable position, fortunately. The simple fix of smacking the steering wheel while pressing the adjuster has left me with a sore hand so I'll get it fixed at the next service, 5,400 miles away.

(Imagine the sort of progress I could make in life if I put as much effort into finding a new job as I did into making that image for a crap joke?)

Indeed. Was that picture taken with a King Edward or a Russet?

I was feeling like something more delicate, so it was a Russet in the end.

Maybe the Renault is a very long car. Reminds me of back in the day when dick picks were a thing. I could only take a picture of the tip or the base.
How about not having a sig at all?

The reputation Rolec have for being unreliable is out of date IMO, early ones were bad but they claim it's sorted. Mines been fine so far.

Welcome to the world of chilled driving, for daily stuff EV are great IMO.

Cheers, wife is looking forward to it.

Won't be posting in the 60-100 thread either because that's not chilled driving, and perhaps more relevant, it is limited to 86.

That reminds me, I should really do a 60-100 on the 928 when I get a chance. I'm curious to see how it stacks up.
If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.

Four months and 2 covid lockdowns later...

£1000 bodywork and welding and only dings and scrapes are letting the side down now, rather than fist size rust holes. It does still need lowering quite badly. Rolling restoration innit. It'll happen one day.

Great to be back in it though. I sorted the tracking this afternoon too, so the Merc emblem on the wheel is finally pointing up when on the motorway :D

(Very) poor man's Rolls-Royce I reckon. Radio 4 has never sounded so good 8-)

Caterham also passed its MOT today, no advisories!
