Nature being tough

Post by mik »

Just heard a clatter outside - went out to find a beautifully coloured male pheasant kicking his legs, taking his last breaths.

Mark on the render suggests he has flown at high speed directly into the side of the house. Broken neck. Trying to outrun an owl, or maybe a ground based predator - we get foxes and pine marten - or it could have been the neighbours cat :?:

Eldest miklet and I rolled his body onto a towel and moved him to some foliage nearby. Felt like wee were being watched so not expecting the whole body to be there tomorrow.

Nature be tough. :?

Poor thing. That's a prime candidate for a bit of game pie mind you... what a treat for the foxes.

Not as tough as your house!
The Evo forum really is a shadow of its former self. I remember when the internet was for the elite and now they seem to let any spastic on

One met its maker many years ago after a disagreement with the front of my works Focus.

Long downhill section on a single track road. Good visibility so i was making use of the NSL. Stone walls both sides and this thing just ran out from the undergrowth. By the time i had my foot on the brake id hit it. What a mess. Had to pull it out of the grill by its feet. Blood and entrails all over the engine bay.

Pheasants are catastrophically dumb!

Being game for playing a game of chicken with a house is pretty dumb, but no harm no fowl.....

Well, arguably there was harm, the pheasant is no more. I think you'll have to apologise for the attempt at punning, don't duck out or your reputation will be goosed, even if you swan around pretending it is all fine.

Have twice today noticed a large Buzzard swooping down close to where we dropped the pheasant. Just went over to take a look - Mr Pheasant no longer has his head.... :?
