Why I won’t be buying an EV anytime soon...
Re: Why I won’t be buying an EV anytime soon...
I have already instructed the property valuation in anticipation of additional forum member support.

which bit? he didn't get out of his car and I didn't get in his car. We were parked in the same carpark and I had a quick look around it whilst he faffed about trying to get his app working, then he buggered off to another carpark and joined the meeting (a construction site survey - not possible to do remotely) late.
Re: Why I won’t be buying an EV anytime soon...
I just hope you were wearing full PPE during all of that.

I’m not surprised he couldn’t get the charger in the first car park to work if he didn’t get out of the car Rich.Rich B wrote: ↑Fri Feb 05, 2021 4:35 pmwhich bit? he didn't get out of his car and I didn't get in his car. And do you usually take your mates to your meetings which are actually site surveys?

Well if the only charger you can install won’t actually give you a full charge overnight then you may be scuppered from the outset.Jobbo wrote: ↑Fri Feb 05, 2021 11:20 amIn what way could it be a deciding factor? There's no relationship between the main fuse and the hours of cheap rate electricity!
We have an 80A main RCD but a 100A main switch in the consumer unit, having checked - not sure if that means we could upgrade to a 100A RCD.
I don’t know how they check or test that you can increase your mains fuse but it’s worth finding out just incase. Our street is an ex council street with a few extra houses added over the years so we are probably at capacity already.
Dave!

7kw charger is only 32 amps isn't it?
It will be a problem in the future though when most have 2 electric cars on the drive and gas and oil are banned. Every house will be pulling 150+ amps

How about not having a sig at all?

Just put a deposit on a black 68 plate Zoe Signature Nav.
Wife had one requirement: that it wasn't black, so I did well there. It made sense though, it is with a local Renault dealer, they know the car having sold it new (and had it as a demo before) and comes with Bose stereo, leather seats, rear camera and is, from the pictures and video in very good condition.
They serviced it when they took it in P/X, so all it needs is a good clean and a new battery for one of the key cards.
It is with a battery lease and the 90 KW engine. Ideally wanted the 110, but they were more expensive.
Should be with us on Wednesday. Now to get a charger fitted.
@mik which one did you get and is it okay?

@DeskJockey noice
We went for a Zappi with a tethered cable - it’s inside the garage so looks weren’t a priority. (Not that it is ugly, but there are more subtle / classy looking units if that is important)
It comes with a wee unit that links it to your wifi and you can control it via an app, see what power it is using and how much the rest of the house is using.
Does everything we need it to

It was Holley that went for one of the classy-looking Andersen units.

I guess this isn't to replace the galaxy... But to supplement it?

Yes. Wife needs to commute to Sutton from March, and the public transport journey is awful. This should save her about two hours a day.

Ah Sutton. I used to go to school there and grew up just up the road (my parents are still in the same house).DeskJockey wrote: ↑Sat Feb 13, 2021 6:38 pm Yes. Wife needs to commute to Sutton from March, and the public transport journey is awful. This should save her about two hours a day.
