A weeping PAS hose has been spotted, plus seeing as the lots coming out will powder coat various bits and pieces whilst there, and give the chassis a good clean up whilst the lump is out.

Seeing as the box is out going to have a look at the clutch as there’s always been a slight noise when pulling away.

Watch this space 😂
Should keep that for a few years will be worth it 8-)
Seems like a lot of effort for a car that's only worth £5k 😂

Dansk on mine too, ECP had a good deal on them at about the same time I needed some and my local branch had them in stuck so it was an easy choice.

IIRC Dansk were always the forum favourite until one day fashion changed and suddenly they were the worst thing EVAR.

<shrug>

I quite like them.

Does the 996 C4S have a different exhaust to all the other 996 variants which share its engine?

Its a good question - I'm not sure if it is different to PSE on a standard 996.2 - seems unlikely though doesn't it. I had also thought that all C4Ss had PSE as standard fitment but online forums seem to suggest that may not be the case (or that they may have it but without the switch...).

Anecdotally, every C4S I've ever heard has sounded noticeably better than a standard 996. Equally when I've heard someone give one a bootful, the exhaust has been quite clearly valved.

All quite confusing but could be nothing more than C4Ss are very likely to have it optioned as the run out souped up version and basic 996s rarely have them.

All N/A 996 3.6 have the same exhaust although some have the X51 Powerkit which seems much more common in the C4S than the narrow body cars.

The different inlet and exhaust manifolds in those cars may contribute to a different sound.

My 924 had a Dansk exhaust and sounded well, I imagine a 911 will sound a lot better!

Seemed good quality.

The Cayenne now has a tow bar. No photos of that as it’s reeeeaaalllly boring.

The Scimitar had a nice run in the sunshine with a stop at the beachfront to refuel (the driver, with coffee & cake).

Took the ‘sud to work today, 60 mile round trip, first time it’s been used since mid November. Unlikely to be used for at least the next week.

Ran nicely but the front end felt a bit weird. Need to check the tyre pressure, I just stuck 35 in all round as I was in a rush but pretty sure that’s way too high. Hard to tell on these tall sidewall old style tyres as they always look flat to me.
Cheers, Harry

Attn mpg fans ! A gentle cruise down the M3 & back yielded 20.3 on the OBC. So probably slightly worse in reality.

New car bought. Since my wife started her new job she's been using her car to travel to work rather than public transport as before. This means I haven't been able to borrow her car if the weather was looking a bit iffy which resulted in me having some very dodgy journeys to work in the Vito through the snow. It doesn't help that Sheffield is built on seven hills so a flat road is a bit of a novelty.

So, what have I bought?

Petrol
4x4
Turbocharged
Same colour as the forum Mclaren

Drumroll......

It's a Panda 4x4 twinair.

I won't lose it in a car park and it's much brighter in real life than in the photo. It's a two cylinder 875cc 85bhp engine and goes surprisingly well for its size, very distinctive sound too. I've always liked the 4x4 Panda so decided to try one out. Just need snowmageddon to arrive now.

I spotted one with a huge spoiler with a full sized light up devils head underneath it, something to consider.

The 4x4 Panda is very fit for purpose, great choice.

I fitted a new idler pulley and auxiliary belt and air filters today, much quieter now on a cold start.

Not sure I'd be brave enough on the colour, but I've been in a 500 twinair and that went well enough and there's definitely an appeal to a 4x4 panda!
