Re: Coronavirus
We spread bet on most/all of them basically before knowing which would make it through the approvals prices. I think Israel did similar. Given it could be the quickest way out of lockdown and therefore for the economy to be reignited the costs are significantly outweighed by the potential benefits. Especially if you can get up and running before others.integrale_evo wrote: Fri Jan 29, 2021 8:55 pm A quick question because I am the stupids.
Why do we have well over 200million doses on order which for a population of 68million means three doses for everyone in the country, which in reality will be lots more because a fair chunk will refuse to have it.
Do these massive orders allow the manufacturers to ramp up production quicker? Are we stockpiling in case the effects drop off ( do they have any idea how long they can be stored ) so they can use any excess as a bargaining tool elsewhere?
It's this latter aspect that could really double down the damage to the EU and they know it.

Great thread about the ramp up of the Oxford vaccine. Click and read the whole thing.
Also same for this one.

Town was busier than it has been yesterday, I think that's partly because it was so miserable on Saturday that people stayed indoors then it was sunny on Sunday so people rushed out. I do wonder if people's patience for lockdown is starting to wane though (nobody was breaking any rules AFAIK, but just gives the impression less people are staying at home).

Must have all seen revsrus’s thread about picking up his car and went wild.duncs500 wrote: Mon Feb 01, 2021 5:20 am Town was busier than it has been yesterday, I think that's partly because it was so miserable on Saturday that people stayed indoors then it was sunny on Sunday so people rushed out. Glad we're all finding Corona so funny. 6 others on that thread too flagged up how bad it was.

The Daily Mail has the biggest online readership of any news outlet - that does not mean the people of this forum should turn into Daily Mail readers, reacting to things they perceive to be wrong without the full story.

I do want to know how much RevsRus's house is worth though.Jobbo wrote: Mon Feb 01, 2021 9:19 am The Daily Mail has the biggest online readership of any news outlet - that does not mean the people of this forum should turn into Daily Mail readers, reacting to things they perceive to be wrong without the full story.

I think I've made my philosophy clear before, but I endeavour to do the right thing, and I believe that most others do too. I'm certainly not going to start judging others harshly, and I'll keep believing that the vast majority are using their common sense.Rich B wrote: Mon Feb 01, 2021 9:15 am Glad we're all finding Corona so funny. 6 others on that thread too flagged up how bad it was.
I don't know Revs, but I know mik, and certainly consider him to be one of the more (for want of a better term) grown up members of the forum. I simply don't believe he wouldn't be careful, and trust him to do the right things even if it's not 100% to letter of the law.

I presume Rich has a go at anyone he sees not wearing a mask whenever he's out.

Re: Coronavirus
Just had a test at work, had results text in 20 minutes, better than the 18 hours last time.

Re: Coronavirus
Yeah they seem to come about 2 weeks after our tests are done which seems plenty quick enough with everything going on in the world right now!
Can't complain, we'd have done it without the incentive of vouchers tbh, hopefully the data will do some good.
