So I've had the XF for about 3 weeks now, I think it needs lowering

I feel like I sit lower in it than I did in the S60, and it rolls less than the S60 when its in Dynamic Mode, but the arch gap is a bit too big for my liking.

Will have a chat with a friend over the weekend who has done a few sets on XF's now, not sure how it goes with the Adaptive Dampers and lowering.

Done. Quite glad I had a complete spare cluster to play with as I broke a couple of the needles but was able to make a complete good set from the two. The black dials seem much sharper than the old ones. Feeling quite pleased.

Always wondered how it works on modern active dampers when people fit lowering springs. Do you disable the system entirely, or does it just not work as effectively and/or reduce the life of the dampers?

Changed the archaic ashtray & lighter socket for a far more useful tray from the non-smoker package.

Porsche very cleverly put a couple of sockets in the passenger footwell, so still no problem charging phones etc.

It’s been getting better since replacing the thermostat - it was around 10 for the first few days !

Apparently full BMW service history involves miss placing screws and just ripping holes in the door vapour barrier. Hell, I can do that without charging sixty quid an hour for it FFS. Which is probably a good thing as I spent 15 mins trying to get a bite on a torx screw that wasn't actually there

I posted on Facebook in the Evo group that "some fucking mong" had done that, and I think I'm about to be put in Facebook jail, now. Sigh.

FBMWSH doesn't mean no one else has ever done any repairs. Unless you're saying bodying door locks to work are a service item?

Other halves Touran was ejecting coolant after sitting on the drive most of the past 12 months.. Refilled a couple of times and it repeated so chucked at garage. Google suggested either a warped head OR leaky water pump.

I was hoping I could burn it with fire, it works well as a family wagon but is pretty soul destroying. Turned out to be the latter, cambelt was due in May anyway so could have been worse.

Back and will take it's place on the drive

That's a fair point. I think I'm still annoyed about that screw. That, and it's looks like getting the actuator out is a two person job because the glass will need supporting while it's rail is removed. Bah.

I’m really on a roll today. Tailgate spring damper things. I ordered Febi, they came in Febi bags but are marked Stabilus the same as the originals.
