Well how wrong was I?Rich B wrote: Tue Jan 26, 2021 11:58 am Tubby indeed - I was surprised that an Evora was heavier than a Golf.
Evora isn’t the lightest car, but then it’s nearest competitor is the 911. Which also isn’t the lightest car. I have not compared the weight of a 911 to a Golf, but someone probably should.

We tested it with the Evora as well...mik wrote: Tue Jan 26, 2021 12:20 pmThat was the VXR8, and I was saving the breaks. Where is that JustGoFaster list of excuses?
Re: Elise, Exige & Evora
Wasn't there an argument on here that S2 elises are really overweight and only driven by people with small cocks?
I didn't say any of that, just remember reading it

Re: Elise, Exige & Evora
Probably - thought the early S2 Elises with the K-series weren't much heavier than the S1. I think the quoted weight of my 2001 S2 was 750kg. The Toyota engines were heavier, as was the extra kit, sound deadening etc which they added over the years so the last S2s were over 900kg, IIRC.Mito Man wrote: Tue Jan 26, 2021 12:27 pm Wasn't there an argument on here that S2 elises are really overweight and only driven by people with small cocks?![]()

I never believed that the electric windows were lighter than the manual ones either, but since the mechanism for the manual ones was flaky I'd have happily swapped for electric
Re: Elise, Exige & Evora
But they were so big.
Re: Elise, Exige & Evora
Shirley more than that? That's more or less the same weight as an S1.Jobbo wrote: Tue Jan 26, 2021 12:40 pm

Re: Elise, Exige & Evora
No thats about right, early S2's come in around 750 sometimes less. I built a 280hp honda engined one that was just under 750.
Current toyota engined elises like the cup models are over 900 kilos. V6's 1150kg +

Re: Elise, Exige & Evora
Fair enough. I know my old Exige was over 900kg, but it was a 'yota obvs.
Re: Elise, Exige & Evora
When’s your one going to be finished Dan?
Re: Elise, Exige & Evora
Never!
Engine will be in and running as soon as my custom billet crank is finished though.

Blamestorming the impending outrage at Volvo engined Lotii.
They'll probably have gotten heavier too.

We could fish for lurking JL’s by discussing the upcoming high-speed-testing programme?

Don’t really know where else to put it, but I was quite impressed to see in a recent carwow video that the Alfa giulia quad weighs 1535kg, which I’ve long considered ‘about right’ for a mid size family saloon, ie e36 / 46 m3s. Seems that the aluminium and carbon fibre parts have for once helped balance out the added weight of modern tech and safety equipment.
Cheers, Harry

They must have used those same scales that Ferrari have, gravity is a bit less in Modena I hear.

Top journalistic stuff as usual from autoExpress.
“our exclusive images preview how it could look”
This is definitely not just someone in the office doing a mashup of an Evora and an Evija
