I use the Lidl charger, probably the same as the Aldi one. Costs less than an iPhone charger

I have a couple of Aldi / Lidl chargers and they’ve been great. Two of them are hooked up constantly in the garage and never given me any bother.

My only torque wrench is a cheap Lidl one too as I didn’t want to spend £100 on a branded one and I’m guessing it’s pretty accurate as I haven’t had any wheels fall off - it came with an actual calibration certificate. Their jacks are decent too. I guess they can’t skimp on safety critical items.

Is there any need to constantly run conditioners? Back when I had a car I didn't use very often, I'd just leave them for one full day over the weekend - seemed a bit overkill to leave them constantly hooked up.

I suppose there's no *need* to leave it connected constantly, but isn't that the point of a battery conditioner, than you *can*, so that you don't need to remember to plug it in once a week ? If you're doing that an ordinary dumb charger for half an hour at the weekend would probably do the trick.

And the electricity bill must be pennies, surely ? Although I've never actually done the maths to be fair.

A perfect combination is a cheap dumb charger, which just throws current at the battery

Disconnect the battery and it charges *anything* from flat in 6-8 hours

And we're not done yet. Thermostat is not here yet and I'll obviously need new coolant when I do that. There's a slight front suspension clonk to investigate. The last MOT mentioned ARB bushes, those are nice and cheap, but I'm expecting it to need lower arms eventually. That'll be another £500, putting us well over 25% of purchase price. I dread to think what it would cost if you were sending it off to a tuna for all this.

That said, I'm enjoying it. The V8 sounds lovely and makes a nice crackle when you blip it

I had a badge-engineered version of that same charger that I chucked not long after getting the c-tek. Probably a mistake that although the c-two hasn’t let me down.

I've had a couple of decent trade bids on my M340i Touring so subject to inspections Saturday it's going.

I was going to share a car with my wife until the office opens up but something cheap like that appeals as do Quattroporte's, knackered Bentley's, Citreon C6's, Renault Twizy etc I'm looking forward to the browse

Am i right in thinking the 4.8 cars are better packaged and easier to work on as well as generally more reliable ?

Van back, new pre dpf sensor, service and new battery, had it a good run last night and it’s running great! Happily sit at 80 even up hills, the remap really did transform it.

Some rust needs attending to but apart from that all good!

Its cracking, at least as quick as the M2 due to the autobox and it never feels 4wd, surprisingly fun and pointy. All the car you'll ever need sums it up.

I'm too tight to be financing a car i can't use and i probably did over a 1000 of those miles in the 1st month and since then i take it out for a spirited drive every week or so to keep the battery charged.

Navarra has had a light on, so thanks to my Chinese device, I know its glow plugs, the light is off, glow plugs ordered and one happy Mrs Mike.
