Hello peeps, NickR here.
Those are my photos, thought it would be a nice surprise for someone to stumble across :)
I had the black 205 GTi, Skip Brown Tuned with LSD, I lived about 10 miles from Matt Cony.
The track day was Anglesey not Elvington.

I have no pics from that gathering...unless it was the same as below different point after a few left and joined? Andy always wore the same get-up  "It ain't half hot mum" as someone once said

Nick - did you come along once on a meet of Clios in Derbyshire? I organised it with the local Cliosport guys back when it was mostly mk1 16vs and Williams, and I remember Matt Cony being there in his R32. ISTR there were 2-3 of you who ended up doing the route in the opposite direction to the rest of us!

Not me, sorry.
Was it the other Matt who had a Blue 172 (he later bought a vx220) ?

I was at that Anglesey day with Ben, MattH and Co. There's pics somewhere of Gary launching that Mitsubishi sideways at every chance, the man gave zero Fs

(My Elvington comment was regarding the pic of my Corolla)

I only specifically remember Matt Cony and his R32, but can recall that there were others with him, just I can't remember any details!

I didn't organise another meet after that one as there were some fairly hairy overtakes on that as well. I had one myself where I thought it was close, only to look in my rear view mirror and see I wasn't the last to make it through...!

Is that Mr Ritchie's Williams at the back right of shot?

I wonder whatever happened to him - had a few cracking trackdays/evenings with him. Total loon!

I was more of a lurker at that time. Years later I had several e-chats with Mr Handa as he heavily modified his VXR8. Small community. Put fantastic wheels on it.

He is still a LinkedIn contact.

Hey Nick! :D Vivid memories of you driving us through North Wales somewhere in that 205 with the first Placebo album blaring loud! Awesome to 'see' you again! Whatever happened to the car? Probably the best 205 I've ever been in

I kept it a good few years, did loads of track days then I sold it to buy a motorbike (which was a good choice at the time).
Yeah, fond memories of it, handling was so well sorted.

I was at the Elvington one, though was too inexperienced to try the track as young 'un.
I did my first track day at a Toyota owners Club day in Lincs with you Jon. Possibly Binbrook?

Im pretty much the same these days. With the cornering forces that the lotus can pull there is no way i would push it that hard on the road. Also i know that if im on the lock stops round a corner on track there isn't a tractor coming the other way!

It was his company car and he was leaving the firm the next day or similar. I remember the metal banding was clearly showing on the tyres at the end of the day.

Corolla pic was indeed Anglesey, forgot I'd driven it all the way there with that whining diff 😆

And yes Gav, he destroyed the tyres on that poor Mitsubishi. He let me and Ben take his EP3 round the Ring too, we abused that poor car 😂

IMO it's perfectly possible to drive in a way that you can have a spirited drive but be prepared for any eventuality and be able to stop. I've been on plenty of meets and trips without incident. I can imagine there was a bit more youthful exuberance in the early days mind you.

Was that the incident near Hartside Cafe?
