Just posted a new blog on the Use Case Rule of Supercar Collecting:
https://karenable.com/the-use-case-rule ... ollecting/
I must admit, its not one that I have always followed.
Thoughts on the philosophy?

Re: The Use Case Rule
Talking of Mclaren F1s, I saw a vid on the cost of ownership of them... epic.
The owner was made/told he had to rent out a race track and engineers to fit new tyres as the suspension had to be tuned to them. The fuel cells get replaced every 5 years at £110k plus fitting/shipping to Mclaren, etc...

Just dumb.

Re: The Use Case Rule
I believe he grossly overinflated prices and exaggerated many things according to other Mclaren F1 owners on boatshoes who had much more reasonable and realistic prices!
How about not having a sig at all?

Agree, it is no where near that bad.Mito Man wrote: Sat Dec 26, 2020 10:32 pm I believe he grossly overinflated prices and exaggerated many things according to other Mclaren F1 owners on boatshoes who had much more reasonable and realistic prices!

Very good article as always SSO...
Quick question - and sorry if I missed an update, but do you still have a deposit down on a SSC Glickenhaus and if so, what’s its use and what will go to make room??

I do have a deposit down on a SCG004S, it should arrive next spring. It's an addition so no plans on letting anything go to make room. As a 3 seat, center driving position, road legal track car, its unique vs. everything else we currently have.dinny_g wrote: Sun Dec 27, 2020 11:08 am Very good article as always SSO...

Re: The Use Case Rule
Good article.
I think the rule is even more pertinent for driving enthusiasts with a limited budget (i.e me!). Whenever I daydream about buying a second fun car the ‘Use Case Rule’ is certainly one that I follow.

Re: The Use Case Rule
It's a pretty normal process for everyone, though normally from the other direction. Like many households I have room/money for two cars, both have to try and satisfy as many uses as possible. Practical, fun, affordability, size, running costs, etc..
I don't have to try and come up with new uses to justify more cars, I have to justify that the cars i choose will cover enough of the uses I already have. And being a car guy, the majority of what I actually want will not!
