I tried, and failed, to stay out of sight of the business end first time round. Clearly didn't scare me away as we have two more. I'm generally quite squeamish, but you're so focused you forget.

My wife described the closing of the C-Section 'like the doctors doing the washing up in her stomach'...

I stayed the right side of the sheet, and like Dinny had my son in my arms for about 30 minutes whilst they closed. It was an incredible moment looking into his eyes and making him promises for those first moments of his life.

First one was such a long and boring experience. My wife still reminds me that I fell asleep for a lot of it and has the pictures to prove it.

Second one was much quicker as we’d barely got to our room before she stood up and just squeezed our daughter out on to the floor. Luckily she bounced, but it made me realise how accurate those tales of people not making it to the hospital in time are.
Cheers,

Mike.

Well that was quick. Found a very local house for sale to go and look at on Monday. An extra bedroom, study, utility and extra garage. A very poignant house for this estate too. Let's see what fate befalls us.

Why on earth do you think he will be alone?

Because I couldn't guarantee he'd have a partner/wife/whatever, and it's tough to rely on his cousins who are either 10+ years older than him or 6,000 miles away in Brazil. Whatever happens in our family the siblings have always stuck together and supported one another. If he's not romantically involved and we're not around then who would he fall back on?

You're overthinking it. There's a million different directions his and your lives could take.

I want my boy to do what he wants to do in the future, not desperately worry about trying to find someone to pin down as support as quickly as possible just in case.

Mates.

I would hope that you would be the type of parents that encourage your child to make friends. He can choose those.
