Ideally just another pair to match the existing fronts and make a non-staggered set. All the other factory 17in options are pretty horrible. I don’t particularly like the ones on it either, but they’re better than most of the others

To run 225 45 17 winter tyres all round as per the handbook.
My mrs wants monoblocks, but they’d be 18in versions for summer, the 17in versions would look too small on it. I don’t think the 18in version would work either and thing the slightly slimmer spoke ones off the early 2000s s class would look better....

Why not just run winters in the existing sizes - and ignore the handbook?

Wanting a spare set of wheels to put winter tyres on isn’t really that complicated.
It’s more complicated because most of the cheap clk wheels are 16s which won’t clear the brakes on our car and most of the 17in ones are horrible, I’d rather buy steelies and make it obvious they’re winter wheels except no one lists a 17in one.
I don’t want to use existing sizes in winters because there’s sod all choice in 245 40 17 and about a million choices in 225 45. Plus skinnier is better in winter, plus I’m sure mercedes have done more winter testing of their own car than the internets have and 225 45 all round is the only size they lost for winter tyres.
The existing wheels could do with a refurb so having a spare pair would mean I could get them done two at a time, or the whole lot if I could find a set.
Would be miles easier if they’d just used the same pcd as bmw

I’d have given up long ago and stuck a 225 tyre on the 245 rim.

It’ll be barely noticeable as it’s only 2 cm and even manufacturers stray by a few cm for a certain width.

Toyotires.com is useful to check recommended rim widths.
They advise a 225/45/17 optimal rim width is 7.5”, but it can safely be fitted on anything 7.0” - 8.5”

I recommend Magnum brand rubber if you're sticking it on a 8.5 incher like me.

I will be putting the 225 on an 8.5, I have no issue size wise, it just looks a bit weird and would have been handier having a spare set.

Wasnt after anything specific really, just something ‘ok’ that’s not Chinese dog crap or going to cost a fortune.
225 45 17 + 245 40 17 Summer and 225 45 17 all round m+s is a very popular combination, same as all e36s with staggered 17s, same as all e46s with staggered 17s, our clk and I expect the c-class if similar age.

I don't bother with winters any more. I run All season (Michelin Cross Climate +) on everything now. They work brilliantly, and on an average hot-ish hatch like the Auris (hidden gem edition) I don't miss the 5% extra performance from a summer tyre during the month of hot weather we have, nor the 10% extra grip from a winter tyre during the 1 day of snow we have. It makes running a car, well, easier.
They are also the best wet weather tyre I've ever used.

I thought the same, but since leaving the Crossclimates in the garage and swapping to Eagle F1s I'm shocked how much less understeer and wheelspin I have in the dry.
I thought the Crossclimates were great in the dry after having them for about 3 years, but the Eagles are excellent, I'd say they're not far off the Crossclimates in the wet tbh and they're much quieter.
I think once the Crossclimates wear out on my spare wheels I'll go full winters on them.
