Re: Ring Lap Times
Bellof cheated by getting into the slipstream of the Rothma’s Porsche just before the long straight...

Cheers,

Re: Ring Lap Times
Youtube analysis video by Misha Charoudin seemed pretty thorough, sub 4 seemed to depend on how fast it'd cover the straight. Super slippery DRS might see it top 400kph and get under 5 minutes. Utterly fitting to have Porsche not just take the record but throw it completely out of reach of even the hyperist of road cars.
Re: Ring Lap Times
Can they not just release the flippin time already!
Re: Ring Lap Times
Bumping this thread - what happened to this record smashing attempt? Week goes by and no news. Would be ridiculous if they do a McLaren P1-gate on us.
I expect it may be that they've actually done something totally mind altering like a 5:01 but they want another crack at it to see if they can go sub-5.

Re: Ring Lap Times
So a 5:19.5 is wot it dun.
Pretty staggering but not quite the sub 5 mins some people thought possible after getting a bit too excited.
Given the Bellof lap was really closer to a 6min lap on today’s format, that means the 919 really only shows a progression of a bit more than a second a year (for a non race legal car versus the 956 on a qually lap for a race).
Re: Ring Lap Times
Look forward to the vids. Amazing time.

Obviously a staggering time, but pretty dissapointing given the hype and rumours that have been circulating. Sub 5 would have been mind bending.GG. wrote: Fri Jun 29, 2018 8:58 am

It's only a short clip, but it looks like scaletrix writ large. The aero is immense.

Re: Ring Lap Times
It looks like it's within spitting distance of just spearing off the track. But it just doesn't.
Re: Ring Lap Times
I wonder if it can harvest enough electrical power throughout the lap to keep it sustained on such a long track.
Also can the car even be driven at full speed round the track? Surely a full lap at qualifying pace will overheat the tyres.

How about not having a sig at all?
