Must be a part of the 40y/o gang thing. One of my mums friends went to the motor show in the mid -late 80s, and knowing I was a car fan picked up a load of brochures for me. For many years the Toyota hilux one was by far the favourite / most often read and looked at
My Focus lease will go next summer for another budget lease snotbox, but I guess to some degree it depends on where I'm working and how the wife gets on with no car. I just want something practical for the minimum outlay.
Then it will just be about how much money I can save up and spend on the Elise. TBH, @scotta's M240i and Elise combo would be just about prefect for me, but given the cost I'd sooner hold on to the 2er cash and spend it on the Elise anyway.
Reasonably likely that my wife's commute will change to going sideways through London (rather than in/out), so to avoid her spending 3-4 hours a day getting to work and back, we're looking at options. An electric car is high on the list, not sure which one yet.

Moving house means the Up will be staying for the foreseeable, and even if I didn't everything I actively want is £40k+ (QF, LC500, Evora400, 964) so I'll just stick and hope for a price crash.
We nearly got rid of the Volvo but then decided to pay the grand to MOT it as it should keep it running another few years without major work and its a comfy old barge with roof bars for the one bike.
The Bongo on the other hand, I am ready to get rid of most of the time. Will wait and see what shakes down with work before making the decision though as the day van aspect we love and it is brilliant as a support vehicle for Ultra running and biking etc but ruuuuuuuuuuuuust and 20ish MPG even at LPG prices is a scunner.
I would quite like a pick up (I guess mid-life crisis) but they look cramped inside and for bikes you have the back wheel out and not especially secure, ideally a LWB hightop that i could build a bunk double at the back, row of seats, table, garage part for bikes or whatever, just not so practical as a day to day vehicle if that is what I would need.
Mitsubishi pick ups seem to be very popular around here anyway, Navaras I have heard horror stories about with chassis rust and crap engine, but I am sure all makes have similar tales of woe.

And that's why they're so much cheaper than a VW.
I've been eyeing up Vitos / Vianos recently. Three different wheelbases available and they did them with a 3 litre diesel V6 and RWD, so they're fairly decent to drive apparently, and close to 300bhp with a remap. Viano is the luxury minibus version of the Vito with nice trim and proper sound proofing etc.
