He does make a good point. How come hand car washes in supermarkets and petrol stations are allowed to stay open? I'd imagine none of these workers qualify for furlough.

Definitely not essential.

That’s all kinds not just businesses etc. I can’t see how the auto washes aren’t an issue though.

I'd say they are at this time of year. None able folk can't wash their cars / transport so when dirty their registration plate is obscured which is an offence.

Also hygiene in taxis, minibus etc.

My Grandma only stopped driving last year and managed it. Had very bad arthritis since her teens, adapted controls and was 84 when she stopped.

Do the same people stop at a car wash after a 50 mile run on a filthy motorway ?

It’s a very big stretch to say it’s essential imo.

Course they're not essential to the general motorist. They're essential to the staff who work at them though - I expect they are suffering way more than average during this.

If you are working at the car wash, Ooh, you might not ever get rich, but let me tell you it's better than digging a ditch

TBF all jobs are essential to the people who have them, no one works for fun.

That's why there should be a better government support system for people who aren't able to work just now.

Different if you're cash in hand I guess, but that's the risk you take.

But they're ain't no telling who you might meet. A movie star or a petty enforcer.

Almost certainly given the number that operate cash in hand with 'contractors' and can't furlough or get govt support as a result.

Surely though not paying tax on their earnings is the trade off for no help now ?

It’s a very weird situation we are all in but that’s why you join in the tax system.

yeah, I bet they've all been loading up ISAs and stuffing their mattresses with all the left over notes from their £60 a day hard CASH pay!

My COD colleague warned me away from them as all the local ones to us are linked with hard crime but whenever they go to arrest someone they are someone different
