93 is not bad at all - even if he already looked 93 when he was 63. He was in lots of good stuff. 8-)

One of those actors who had been ubiquitous for a long time, it's only news of his passing that makes me realise I've not seen him for a while.

As Time Goes By remains one of my favourite gentle comedies of all time. That scene where Jean’s sister-in-law has been in hospital and then they receive the all-clear via telephone. The camera rounds to Palmer who sits in his chair, stares passed the camera and simply says “Bloody Woman”. The delivery, the expression, always makes me smile.

RIP Mr Palmer, thanks for the grumps.

He was old in Fawlty Towers and that was decades ago.
