I'm surprised they aren't trying to make universities to online learning. It won't work for all courses, but there's no need for 90% to be physically there?

What's interesting is the case numbers by date reported seems to have stabilised over the last 12 days or so.

Looking at the government dashboards, the number of new cases by day by date reported (rounded) in thousands are:

Firstly, it doesn't seem to be going up according to those case numbers that tested positive.

Secondly as hospital admissions lag new cases by a couple of weeks or so I suspect that hospital admissions won't go up exponentially over the next 2 weeks, but steadily instead.

Do we have any idea yet of whether garages will need to close again for this latest lockdown? Got a brake fluid service booked for Sat AM and car is due its MOT on 1st Dec. Can't see reference to garages under the business permitted to stay open nor reference to reasons you'd be exempt from not leaving home. Looks like we might need to wait for the legal text to be published before we have full details.

You can't do an MOT from home so mechanics will need to be going to their workplaces.

I wrote a short fictional story once about how a mate of mine got a dodgy MOT circa 1990 off a dodgy bloke with a book of blank certs who worked at a local hotel.

In this fictional story I met the same dodgy bloke who took one look at my nearly-every-panel-a-different-colour Superstrada and declined to offer his services. Something about it being a police magnet for a dodgy MOT. The fictional cheeky bastard.

My main character then had to get some actual metal welded around the rust in order to pass a real MOT

I wonder if things will ever go back to normal even once there’s a vaccine. I can’t be the only one who has realised that by not eating out I could be leasing a very nice car instead - can kinda understand the old people’s frugal perspective all of a sudden

I’ve not been into a town centre since March and don’t miss it in the slightest.

I expect it's to stop people leaving their homes and buying it and drinking it round the corner from the pub. But it's pretty daft. They could quite easily make it "home delivery only" if that is their concern.
