Pixel 5
Re: Pixel 5
I had an OG Pixel XL that I still need to sell, then the 3a XL, now the 5. I was gonna get the 4A 5G but decided to plump for the slightly smaller more 'premium' feeling device in the end.

I haven't been following progress tbh, the 2 has been performing fine so I've not been tempted to upgrade yet. Camera still impresses me, and no real slowdown so far. Battery still strong too, generally only down to 50/60% by the end of my day (I'm not a heavy user mind).
Re: Pixel 5
They look good. Also the 0 percent interest and 3 percent credit to google store.
My P20 Pro is now 2 years old so should start looking to replace that.

Re: Pixel 5
Think I'll preorder the black P5. The free Bose headphones are a nice extra. Currently got a S9+ and getting more pissed off with the battery suddenly dropping to 0 from around 30%. Also no duplicate apps. I'll miss the SD card slot though since I put a lot of high res pics on my phone.

I was impressed by the P5 too (have a P3 at the moment, and have had various Nexus phones over the years)
I also like Google's approach - not going for a top-spec, expensive phone to compete with the iPhone, Samsung etc
It seems like a lot of phone for £599
Quite tempted, even though my P3 is still absolutely fine...

Re: Pixel 5
I too have a Pixel 2XL that is now heading for 3 years old in December - very tempted by the Pixel 5 as it has a fingerprint scanner - the pixel 4 had face unlock that google couldn't get working properly afaik and some major banks didn't support if for accessing accounts (barclays for sure) so i didn't upgrade to that for that reason. Android 11 is on mine after an OTA update last week so am still undecided - I like the £20/month cost for unlimited texts/calls and 15gb data im on and baulked at the £50 it would cost to have same via O2 on the P5, but free headphones (via a redemption website while stocks last in case you hadn't checked it out - presumably linked to a serial number on phone to ensure only genuine owners get dibs) are very tempting......
Re: Pixel 5
Ordered a black P5 via Carphone Warehouse, seems like they'll deliver quicker than the Google Store.

Re: Pixel 5
I ordered from the Google Store and despite saying that it's not gonna hit till the 15th I just got a notification from Royal Mail that they've a package for delivery tomorrow morning.
Winning!
Maybe because I literally ordered 5 minutes after pre-orders opened.

I don't think I'll come to that conclusion. I'm a big Pixel fanboy.

Nah. I expensed some Airpods a few months ago as my headphone usage is more usually tied to my work MBP and iPhone. I was gonna pick up some WH-1000XM4 headphones around Christmas for piano and plane usage, but if I get the free Bose then I won't get those either.

Fair enough. Never really been a big fan of large over the head earphones. Might give the the buds a try.

Re: Pixel 5
I am tempted by the buds thanks to the bablefish functionality, but realistically it's not sane to buy them as I already have the Airpods.

Gah. Just seen that my delivery from RM is actually my new Dyson filters. Damnit.

Rather annoyingly, the Google Store already says "out of stock" even though it's only pre-orders.
I.e you can't now pre-order on the Google Store
So I ordered from Amazon instead
