I think I’m turning into a prepper

I have a tool kit, some parts, a first aid kit, small wash kit, wd40, contact cleaner, Gerber multitool, woolly hat and gloves, axe, tyre inflator, oil, brake fluid, hose repair kit, beef jerky, flashlights, fuses, bungees and ratchet straps, fuel filter, 2 Jerry cans and an old jacket. I’m not a wally though so don’t throw this all on my roof rack along with an orange beacon.

Obviously this is essential when travelling on the a and B roads of this hostile war infested land !!

The ML has a first aid kit, litre of engine oil, concentrated screenwash, litre of water, snacks, spare set of clothes for me and the kids.

Audi has a first aid kit only.

What stuff do you carry in your for eventualities ?

In the winter I usually carry screen wash, sleeping bag, clothes, water and snacks in the car. Always done a lot of miles and have been stuck a couple of times. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it

My usual kit under the boot floor includes a string puncture repair kit, cigarette lighter powered compressor, a couple of beach towels (the thin microfibre type), phone charger and stuff which I forget because I’ve never used.

Being stuck overnight isn’t appealing, but I’ve never got close to needing to sleep in the car.

The Alfa currently has my travel toolbox in it which weighs about 30kg

Need to make a little kit for it, shouldn’t need much just a couple of screwdrivers and spanners as I’ll carry a spare alternator belt and couple of other little bits and pieces.

Whatever car I’m using as my main car I usually put a compressor and torque wrench in and in winter I chuck a sleeping bag and some snacks and water in.

As a 22 yr old first job, 40 mile commute doing shifts, I carried a big ol’ jacket and a shovel in the boot, plus water and a couple of Mars bars.

After many years of using none of these items, I now (quite possibly Foolishly) carry pretty much only my AA membership card.

Wheels need swapping out for OEM Porsche items post haste (offsets are hilariously wrong on those and the style is like a weird blend of Porsche Cup wheels and Rays) but otherwise very cool.

I’m keen to see it on the other wheels you got Delphi.

I think the ones above are 16” Cup wheels. Not oem for the 928 of course.

I like the spoiler white, so that'll stay as it is. There's a truly horrific non-standard shifter that I'm going to change this weekend for the OEM one I've got in the boot and it has a ClubSport steering wheel that's in good condition but non-standard so that's getting put on e-Bay and being replaced by the OEM one I've got.

Are you putting a “lozenge” wheel back on?

If not - you can ignore what comes next, but I found the rim on the oem 944S2 lozenge a little bit thin. I replaced it with a Momo Fighter (‘cos I couldn’t afford a ClubSport wheel) and it was much nicer to hold (diameter was only something like 2cm smaller - very close).

From a partial pic of the bottom of it I think it already has a 968 club sport wheel on it (made by momo I think?):



On that basis I guess he is putting it back to stock?

I think I've approved these before, but looking forward to seeing them on the car soon! Similar wheels looked great on my 944 Turbo compared to the horrid Cups that were on it when I bought it.

Personal fave wheels on the 928 are on I think the late GTS models. Like the 2 in the article. I think Porsche got it right, they make the car look muscular which suits the V8 power.

Wheels are such a personal choice though and such a clean car just needs OEM wheels not a cheap copy. I'm sure the replacements will look good too.

In other news I got my exhaust gasket for the Impreza and have finished the fitting of the sport cat. This makes a hell of a difference and the spool of the Turbo is manic, it certainly feels like it's hitting full boost earlier. I'll order the oil cooler now so I can fit that before the weather deteriorates further. It now needs a new map so that will get done in the spring after a full service. It will have to be limited now to 350bhp as the pistons can't take any more. Still having an internal debate on whether I pull the engine and swap the pistons for some forged ones.

Yes, that's the wheel that's on it at the moment. I've got a brand new original OEM lozenge wheel to go back on. The CS wheel is a bit small for tight turns (at low speeds, 928 steering is pretty light for the first third of a turn then weights up so much after you think the power steering has failed).

Not really a Porsche person (well not the details anyway) were they OEM on the later 928 GTS or would both of those cars be changed by the owners?

Got me thinking about changing wheels to some Prodrives (like on the WR1) on my Scooby now.

Yeah, I'd have that top one. Good looking car and they have IMO aged very, very gracefully.

Said it before but I prefer the look of S4 than GTS cos of the rear reflector bar, so S4 for me please.
