I’ve just specced one to £65k being realistic with the options
I’m surprised with all the odd road packs and electronic diffs - is the car just a poncy Chelsea tractor without them or are they just for people planning on taking their car to a mud pit?

As standard it’s far more capable than either of ours on the same type of tyre I’d bet.

I've gone through the configurator and I'd be happy with a 90 in white with the only option being the arches.

Hmm, seem to be pretty much the exact same diameter as fitted to the 21” option on the Range Rover; 31” total diameter. If it’s a few thousandths bigger on the Defender then your statement sounds like fanboy hyperbole.

31” is 787.4mm, the Defender has 815mm wheel and tyre assemblies.

If you want to argue with Landrover then go knock yourself out

That's kind of my main question at the moment - is the bog standard suspension the best option for something which is going to be capable on and off road or is there any real benefit to the air suspension, adaptive dynamics, terrain response, ATPC etc?

I think air suspension is standard but I’d like to see some reviews of this on muddy U.K. farms and woodland trails in basic spec rather than the press ones which travelled round the world with all these options.

Ok, so ATPC is basically off-road cruise control. Impressive that it will go through water depths of up to 0.9m.

The CarWow review does have some off-road stuff where he goes through the options, but would be good to see someone hooning it around some farm tracks and fields.

That combined fuel consumption is the same as my 200tdi, that can’t be right as the test doesn’t include any real use of the engines performance does it ?

I saw a few of these down in Cornwall. Utterly underwhelming to look at and very large.

I still quite like them, at least in terms of design. Compared to that lop-sided Disco thing especially, looks good.

That's good news on the engine front, but pretty big changes to be making in the first model year isn't it? Not great for those people who've bought one so far.

I still love the design of the 90 in particular, but even having watched a lot of videos about them, I finally saw one in the flesh this week and it was MASSIVE. Much bigger than I expected it to be.

Yeah, I can't see the 4-cyl diesels becoming classics because they were only made for a year. It's unusual for a car manufacturer to shun them completely though.

The 4 cylinder 240 petrol in my friends Evoque was terrible on fuel, I’ve not followed them for a long time but maybe in the real world the 4 cylinder engines are just not giving the expected figures.
