My trolley jack is no longer lifting high enough to get a wheel off my car
Had to resort to the scissor jack each side. Luckily this was at home after the autosolo and not something I needed to do in anger.
Have ordered some jack oil so hopefully that and a bleed will sort it.

Plus got hold of another set of 4x Michelin PS3s (195/50/15). £88 for the set, used for just a few laps on a Ginetta Junior series test day.

I spent nearly 3 hours on Saturday cleaning the interior of the Jag. Pulling out the rear seat bench was a pain as the clips are utter bastards to reach. I discovered enough dog hair to make a spare dog. I also found a lot of what I hope was mud.

I decided to say fuck it and use a soft brush in a drill along with the autoglym shampoo to clean it which was successful. A good slathering in leather cream finished it off. The only seat that I would have sat on willingly was the passenger seat but they all needed a damn good clean. I'm also now aware of every skin condition that the previous owner had.

After that, I used a stiffer brush in a drill on the carpet with the shampoo and extracted another spare dog.

The car now smells ok inside.

It's most definitely a 20 paces car but it does what I need and feels special in the way that the 166 did.

£20 rather than having to open the stereo and solder a line in into the head unit. It was actually one of the things I wanted.

Another little job I completed was unsticking the electric rear blind. The fix is to yank it while pressing the button but I had to wait for one of my kids to be available to do the pressing. Now I just need to work out how to stop the car moving the seat back when I get out.

I seem to remember that you turn the steering wheel adjuster from ‘auto’
That blue was always soft and needed a good polish whenever I bought one into stock during my Jag days.

No, I already have a spare poverty spec non sunroof 1.1 with perfect body.

So the Volvo went in for the pre MOT inspection and it needs about £1200 of work. Two front hubs, two front tyres, most of the exhaust including a backbox at £180 (apparently) and the handbrake only works on one side.

Cost a grand two years ago but it has only done 100k (Euro 3 D5) so is still safe comfy, averages 50 mpgish so now stuck with the cut and run which you are meant to do with bangernomics, or fixing as all the new bits will last a good while and we know the rest of the car.

Maybe it depends what you'd get for it as is? My A8 cost me £1100. After a year (and about £900 spent getting a few bits sorted) I was quoted £550 of work for the MOT. I sold it like that for £350 less than I paid for it. It did have an annoying hot stall issue though, which was maybe one reason I was happy to get rid for that amount.

On the plus side, you know the car. However, could you get another one with 12 months of MOT for that £1200?

Possibly but likely with far higher mileage. It is a tricky one but with the possibility of being out of work it is a crappy time to make the decision either way. The S60 is tatty and dinged and the petrol flap flew off last week as well so need to look at which clip broke and replace that as well but all the important bits are good and I like not worrying about errant doors in car parks and like the 5 cylinder thrum.

All I can find locally with full ticket is a Civic 1.8 SE 56 plate which is in decent nick but fairly basic spec. It is up at £1400. Usually loads of old Swedes to chose from around the £1200 but sod's law...
