Re: For the FTAO of Sim racing folk

Just seen this, and skipped to the end - he made well into 5 figures, by the looks of it. He was on about £8k running upto the end then had a massive glut of people donating $100-$200 and loads of £10-£50 as well. I thought it was for charity, which was fair enough....but then he just said "th...

Re: Do automatic ICE cars need tachometers/rev-counters?

Yep - the much more useful one is oil temperature rather than pressure so you're not hooning it before its up to temperature - the 911 takes a looong time for the oil to get completely warm. VXR8 had battery voltage, oil pressure, and oil temp. I'd agree the latter was most useful. One of the reaso...

Re: Trump guilty

He could be jailed and still be President, the US is that weird. To be fair, it was probably never anticipated as a possibility that they'd require a rule for(?) Below is the transcript of Trump's response to the verdict. I continue to be astounded that he receives support when he just slobbers abs...

Re: For the FTAO of Sim racing folk

Erm why? I just took a look before a meeting - he's on lap 161 of 200. I watched for about 90 seconds, and in that space of time one viewer donated £99. :o I expect that's quite extraordinary, but I suspect he'll do pretty well out of this from donations alone.... Edit: just popped on again and in ...

Re: Do automatic ICE cars need tachometers/rev-counters?

If I am driving an auto with paddles I find I generally let the car do it's thing > there isn't much tactile enjoyment from flicking a paddle. caveat1: unless I am towing, and the car's decisions are generally inappropriate caveat2: unless Pete revsRus lets me look after his 600LT again - that's the...

Do automatic ICE cars need tachometers/rev-counters?

Prompted by the discussion on the new 992.2 and the switch from physicals dials to LCD (with only some of the view options including a rev-counter). (Note: I am using "auto" as a generic terms for non-manuel. Please don't get all excited about PDK vs torque converters etc etc). Obviously t...

Re: For the FTAO of Sim racing folk

I see Rory (full time youtube sim racing "creator") is attempting a 200 lap race of the combined Nurburgring GP & Nordschleife track on GT7.

So that's around 30hrs non-stop. :? (without any driver changes etc obvs)

Re: New 911

edit: I am not hugely convinced by more conventional hybrids or PHEV's that alternate between power sources. The idea of driving 10 miles on purely electric, and the car brain then kicking in the ICE from cold in order to accelerate down a motorway slip-road makes me wince. I'm not sure why... Whil...
