Re: Randomness

I was once standing in our kitchen looking out of the open door at the torrential rain when there was a lightning strike around 40ft away, the bang is like nothing I've ever heard and you could feel the static electricity in the air. Not something I want to repeat.

Re: Who still frequents a pub?

I used to go out with a group of friends a couple of times a week locally, now it’s once every couple of months at the most. Our village used to have ten(!) pubs but two have closed now. The ones left are much quieter with just a bit of a rush on Friday evenings.

Re: Bicyclist thread

Yep, I will give them a try first. The bars on my ebike are 780mm and they felt unwieldy at first plus it is a bigger bike. I think the old Spectral is 770. How long until we see 1 metre bars :o

Re: Bicyclist thread

I went out on my ebike last weekend with a couple of friends. We headed to Lady Cannings Plantation on the edge of the Peak District which is a little trail centre with a couple of runs, compact but good fun. Then over to Blacka Moor and down to Devils Elbow which is an extremely rough downhill sect...

Re: The Weather Thread.

Whaley Bridge now being evacuated as part of the Toddbrook Reservoir spillway has come adrift. https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/660/cpsprodpb/9F28/production/_108144704_christaylordam.png Wasn't there another dam up that way that had a spillway collapse in heavy rain/floods a few years back? Missed th...

The only guests we had were the witnesses, a gardener and cook from the hall we were married at. Perfect.

Re: The Weather Thread.

This weekend's 'ard rock mountain bike enduro has been cancelled due to the flooding. The area where the camping would have been is in the background in the video below. If this flood had happened overnight with a full campsite I'm not sure the outcome would have been good. https://www.instagram.com...

Back in the day the oil cooler failed on my 2.8i Capri and did the same as in the pic. I made the mistake of taking the heads off first though.

Re: Green Laning report

Good read 8-)

My wife, who normally shows zero interest in cars, has recently started showing an interest in the latest Vitara as a replacement for her Focus. I doubt I'd get away with borrowing it for the day and bringing it home with scratches down the side :D

I changed mine just last week using a large lump of wood and a hammer to tap it in. One of the easier jobs on a bike.

Journeyman

I’ve just watched this on Film 4 and what a brilliant but at the same time depressing film. Paddy Considine films are always worth a watch in my opinion and I was only recently raving to a friend about “Dead Man’s Shoes”.

Re: Donnington

I visit Donington quite often as it's the closet circuit to me. The weather there seems to be either baking hot or blowing a gale with sub zero temperatures.

My wife always enjoys her visits
