Re: Trump guilty
Well he was pardoned by Gerald Ford to avoid that happening so I don't think anyone believes the President has blanket immunity to that extent - just in the conduct of his proper duties. That said - I don't think anyone has been mental enough to suggest that the President can pardon himself so I thi...

Re: Trump guilty
I can't see where the element of enrichment or loss was going on here... The enrichment was getting elected. Not sure you'd be able to prove causation on that. Actually I think the language they're using "intent to defraud and intent to commit another crime" is an either or and apparently...

Re: Trump guilty
You've missed off the standard party line you're supposed to say after such random opinions. You can have: - "and Keir Starmer doesn't have a plan" or - "we've put £900 back in the pocket of the average pocket" or - "we're lowering taxes and public services will have to car...

Re: Trump guilty
I'm not sure about the legal ins and outs @GG. I'm no expert on any of this, so please feel free to correct anything - I've been casually following it, but don't know the details But this was a trial about falsifying business records - not something "moral" like Clinton denying having a B...

Re: Trump guilty
In my opinion Rayner's potential defrauding of us all of tax receipts is much worse, if true. You've missed off the standard party line you're supposed to say after such random opinions. You can have: - "and Keir Starmer doesn't have a plan" or - "we've put £900 back in the pocket of...

Re: Trump guilty
Guilty on all 34 counts But will anything actually happen? There's nothing that stops him running for president again from jail It'll martyr him in some quarters of course... I didn't really know anything about this case as following the day to day mudslingings of America's feckless politicians doe...

Re: Do automatic ICE cars need tachometers/rev-counters?
GG mentioned the oil pressure gauge in his 911 so I wonder whether there may be other useful instruments which have disappeared and we don't miss? My mk1 MX5s had oil pressure gauges which made me happy that there was oil pressure I suppose, but I didn't keep an eye on. Oil temp and turbo boost are...

Re: Trump guilty
He could be jailed and still be President, the US is that weird. To be fair, it was probably never anticipated as a possibility that they'd require a rule for(?) There's precedent from the 1920s with a socialist candidate called Eugene Debs (who was jailed for an altogether more wholesome reason of...

Re: Do automatic ICE cars need tachometers/rev-counters?
Also useful for knowing exactly when you are at 3800 revs at 3/4 throttle to make the engine do its "waaaaaah" noise. Obviously I'm not referring to the RR there...
Re: New 911
edit: I am not hugely convinced by more conventional hybrids or PHEV's that alternate between power sources. The idea of driving 10 miles on purely electric, and the car brain then kicking in the ICE from cold in order to accelerate down a motorway slip-road makes me wince. I'm not sure why... Whil...
Re: New 911
Surprised they didn't call it the Porsche 911 991.2 Carrera [4] GTS 3.6 Single-T-MGU-H PDK-E-Hybrid [Coupe/Targa/Cabriolet] Spoiler Flaps edition.
Re: New 911
The articles are all a bit hazy about how this is achieved, however, we know that the turbo has no wastegate so my expectation is that it can flip to be used in a dual capacity as a generator as well (which would slow the turbo down when off throttle) and that is how they ensure the battery is toppe...
Re: New 911
You have to have the 12v battery to isolate the high voltage battery. Doubling the hybrid battery would still be under 4kwh. Probably less than 6 miles of range considering the buffer zones you need. But that's too much battery to charge off the alternator/regen alone so you'd then need to make it ...
Re: New 911
If it had a full EV capability it would weigh 150kg more rather than just 50kg. I imagine that will happen in due course but this seems the better compromise until they're absolutely forced down that path. Maybe - apparently the hybrid turbo tech is 27kg and the battery pretty much the same again. ...

Re: New 911
Judged on those merits it seems to make sense other that the removal of the rear seats which is clearly just to be able to say it is only 50kg more than the old one, rather than nearly 100kg. I skim watched the vid and missed this. So all 911's will be 2+0 as standard now with 2+2 as an option? End...
Re: New 911
I watched Porsche’s official launch video for the new 911 on YouTube last night. Quite surprised by a few things: - when they first showed it, I thought they were taking the piss because it looks like a tiny facelift of the 992; - Mat Watson being involved in the launch video and basically doing a ...

Re: Your fleet running reports
Ah - I wasn't complaining about the roll, that works OK, although you can tell the tyres really don't like it  But that's fine, I don't plan on driving it like that. I meant the general softness, it floats up & down a bit on undulating roads and seems to pitch back & forth a lot, espec...
