Re: Maths

Getting back to the topic in hand which was essentially money. I honestly do feel sorry for the yoof of today. But saying this their parents could encourage them to be savvy and understand compound interest.

I blame school. Maths would have been a lot more interesting and useful if we had ...

Re: Dogecoin etc

A bit of a surprise as the Reeves effect hasn't hit any of my shares yet, I'm waiting for it but I've hit a bit of a personal milestone today and wonder what I'm missing 😂

Dave!

💪👍

I actually think the encouragement of investing in a&s ISA is a good thing. Unfortunately education is lacking ...

Re: Dogecoin etc

I lost some money in crypto back in 2020 before I rejoined this forum. I was faffing around with trading and various random schemes. Was trying to make a quick buck, which I did breifly during the 2020 bull run, before then losing some money and learning the hard way. Ever since then it's just ...

I'm not sure if 'when it was actually good' was my era in the 1990s when we didn't have heating or more recently but I assume 90s if she's your sort of age. So she's around 50 now. I think the intervening ~30 years is more relevant to her job prospects now than what or where she studied when ...

It's a rough market out there for Jobs apparently. My far more intelligent sister who got a physics degree at Oxford when it was actually good is struggling to find employment.

Re: Maths

Making money from opportunities. The bounce back loans at 2.5 percent on 50k were exactly that. All about understanding the maths. 😀☝️

Re: Dogecoin etc

I got bored of WHSmith and pulled the money into NVidia... in spite of the recent WHS rally it's still doing better there.

As a general point, the financial market is tediously illogical. It's a bubble, and everyone knows it's a bubble... but that doesn't seem to be enough to stop it from ...

You're walking into a financial agreement with a student loan and ironically the kids are not savvy enough to understand the consequences.

My boy's got a place in Uni studying Economics but he's wavering because, Ironically, his economics understanding it telling him it's a bad idea. He's ...

Re: Maths

Yep, i’m sure it’s the interest rate that people are concerned about, not the £50k V £0 cost uplift since the last generation went to uni (who coincidentally are the ones who have chosen to uplift it).

You seem to be missing the point, as usual. Would you borrow 20k at 7 percent to buy an ...

Re: Maths

i’d moan too if i had to pay £50k for something that was offered to people of your age for free.

i was the first year of top up fees and it was thankfully only £1k a year - so not really an issue, but it was the first step to normalising the idea of being £30/40/50k in debt for the same ...
