Re: Porsche Taycan first drive - Fully Charged

My experience probably isn't typical, but my car (hybrid Panamera, and yes I know the Taycan is full EV but it's made, sold and maintained by the same people, full stop) has been a lovely car to drive but frith on a stick, it's been unreliable, and the dealers are bullshitters of the first order. T...

Re: VR in 2019

I've been using the Rift again with ETS2. But even with new drivers for the GTX1070, it's crashing quite a bit. It may be because of the mods I've got installed, although Windows claims there is ample memory (24GB in total). Assetto Corsa playing up a little, too. Going to try ATS and see if that b...

Re: Porsche Taycan first drive - Fully Charged

I sort of agree with Mito, the industry does need a shake up. Customer service is awful, customers just want something that’s easy to buy and should it go wrong a pleasant experience where the car is given back fixed, once. The whole sucking air through the teeth and giving it the TADTS attitude is...

Don't like the E39 5, couldn't tell you why but I've never fancied one.
Standard cars can look a little undernourished. But the M5, the way the wings are pulled taught over the wheels, the view from the front as the front wings fan outwards a little. Perfect.

Re: Best looking iteration of long-running car models

E38 7 remains an absolute class act. E39 M5 also remains the best of that line IMHO. Somebody clearly knew what they were doing.

Re: eBay 996 build thread

Given the work Dave has put into it, making it look really quite decent, I'm not sure now if he wants to swap the engine for something else now, if that makes sense? It is, after all, a 'proper' 911 and looks the part. Which makes the failure all the more maddening.

Why do you think it should be electric?

Re: Australian hire car lottery.

Drove up to Braemar from Dundee years ago. Epic place. Also did St Andrews during the same weekend. Having been there during my Uni years it made me realise how much I missed the place. Although even back then they’d still failed to convince the powers that be to allow them to open a BK :)

Re: Evija?

I had in mind a higher kerb weight for the original Tesla Roadster, but Google claims 1300kgs or so, which I suppose isn’t that bad. To me, a modern battery-powered Elise needs to be at least that or less in order to qualify as an Elise.

Surely Lotus have had their most success with the Elise. A proper new one of them would be good, not an extreme track day one or a 911 competitor.

Something between an Mx5 and a boxster in cost, but lighter and faster.
And battery powered? Because then it wouldn't be an Elise.
