Re: Your fleet running reports
I’ve used a lithium battery in the golf for the last 14 years, I’m on my second as the first one failed sometime over winter. Went for a noco nlp14, was on sale at Amazon for £90 and does the job perfectly.

Re: Your fleet running reports
Got a fine today from the DVLA via a debt collector for no road tax on my wife's car.
Obviously Mrs Mike shrugged her shoulders because, well, when cars are good, they're good. When there's issues, it's my fault.
Looks like the address change never went through so she never got a new V5 meaning ...

Re: VAT on Private Schools poll
There's a heavy assumption here that 1000's will end up in state schools and no net tax gain which is frankly nonsense, the fallout will be miniscule.
If you are that way inclined and want to send your kids to a private school it will still happen.
The other aspect not mentioned here once is ...

Re: VAT on Private Schools poll
Even if I had to pay the full 20% increase it wouldn’t negatively affect me enough to pull my kids out of private school. One has a year left and the younger one has 5 years left including A levels.

Re: Today’s want
Part numbers on the ballasts need to match, I fitted a new ballast to one side of my cayenne turbo and had the same fault, lots of researching all pointed at the same problem that you need matching part numbers and to replace ballasts in pairs.
I was thinking of you when I wrote it ! Have you ...

Re: Today’s want
So the electrics are fucked then
Fair play to the seller, I got a very quick reply:
One says front light is not working but it is. The other one is linked to air suspension sensor but again nothing is wrong. All been checked out and diagnosed by Graham reader garage and it’s just went ...

Re: First Cars - Insurance
First gen c class Mercs used to be cheap to insure for young drivers, but I don’t know how it is these days.

£6200 on the Merc! It seems the loop holes are being closed off and nothing is immune to scalping now.
Try a newer model ...

Side note, NFU wouldn’t insure me on an E63 due to no relevant experience. It’s an odd world insurance.

I’m more surprised that it’s a sensible quote with the NFU who I can only describe as the biggest thieves in the insurance industry
That's not my experience or the experience of many of my rural clients!
Took two weeks for the underwriters to review and agree it, i believe a lot has ...

Re: First Cars - Insurance
My 17 year old has a w204 C180 manual coupe. £800 a year to insure with NFU, I’m on the policy as well. Car was £5600 when I bought it but quite a few saloons/estates or ropey coupes available for £3k.
Surprisingly cheap for what is a pretty nice car.

Re: Boring 190E cosworth poll
Cosworth did the engine work on the 2.3 but I seem to recall that the 2.5 was more an in house development than a job farmed out. AMG introduced a power pack for the 2.5-16 engine in evo 1 and 2 forms. It’s unlikely that both Cosworth & AMG were working on the 2.5. The 2.3’d revved much harder than ...

Re: Your fleet running reports
Maybe it’s just East Anglia but I really don’t understand car companies at the minute.
3 alloy wheel places cannot deal with any corrosion, says that it will never be flat and I say well fill any corrosion as I had done years ago on some MI16 rims. Can’t be done apparently and they must be ...

Give Dave a bell as he had a website which ended up having loads of fastenings and clips etc which saved a fortune.
It’s always worth checking with the dealer though as the pricing structure is so haphazard you get some real bargains.
