Expensive week

Just had the Cayman MOTd, 111 point health checked, 2 more years manufacturers warranty, brake fluid changed and renewed my tracker subs. £2k down now.
Just as well there was nothing wrong with it!
Then I started a very casual conversation with the sales team about the 'not quite announced' 4 litre N/A Cayman GTS... With luck, common sense will prevail and I'll stick with what I've got, but who knows?

How's your track record with common sense car purchases?

I do think of Porsche Caymans as practical 3-door hatchbacks if that helps. In the past though, it's worth noting that I've owned 6 cars that didn't have doors and one that didn't have a windscreen.

I'll let the missus know you've sanctioned it.

Merc quoted me £1300 a year for extending the warranty the GLA45 so that sounds quite reasonable given all the other stuff done and that its a porsche

That sounds interesting. I can't see many people opting for a non-GTS if the GTS gets the 6cyl and the base and S models have the farty blown four pot.

Sensible. Blame "some guy on the internet" for getting a new car, you're safe!

He didn't say it was 6cyl, just NA.
Seriously though Paul, get your name on the list.

Amazes me you still need to pay for a 111 point check to extend an existing warranty. I mean, any faults will have been covered anyway.
But then, after investigating the OPC servicing/pricing and speaking to other owners when I was looking at Cayman's a while back, the Porsche network/OPC seemed a bit like being in the Stonecutters...

What percentage of the 2k was the 2 yr warranty and tracker subs?

The 111 point check cost £216, then 2 years of warranty was £1190. Not too bad really, compared with yours.

I suppose its just a way of breaking the costs down into digestible chunks?

See above for warranty, but 1 years tracker sub is £216.

I'm working on it. We went shopping today and my missus got new boots and a handbag, so I'm owed!

Proper Porsche warranty at £600 a year is really reasonable.
Do you still have to have the tracker for insurance?

I haven’t thought about it really, because with it fitted my premium was under £500 last year. I test them once a year and their response is immediate and professional.

So you park it somewhere and pretend it’s stolen?
