Partners (Business context)

Got an email from a partner at 1:26, asking for information by 1:30 so that they can send to the customer.

So that's 'assume you're in front of your computer, drop everything, find what they need, compose reply and send it to them' all within 4 minutes?

"Posted at 1:30pm"

I assume you thought "fuck it" and spent the 4 minutes composing this post instead?

I’d reply at 5:49 tonight: “Sorry, just seen this, will have it for you by lunchtime Monday, have a good weekend” with “Sent from my iPhone” at the bottom for good measure.

Presumably it wasn’t a hard thing for you to do - stop whining and get on.

"No. Learn to manage your clients expectations. You'll have it by 2pm"

I have to do a lot of this with the telecoms stuff; account managers make stupid requests of me, and it takes some time to actually get the number ranges etc set up (because we won't invest in a developer to build a simple CMS for it) so I've just started telling people no.

With varying degrees of derisive laughter as I do it.

They're - slowly - starting to learn to give me a heads up when they think they'll have something time critical required now; it's only take about two years to hammer it into them....

He probably typed this whilst on the private jet, and it only sent after he landed.

:D

T'wasn't too hard to find the info, but the presumption behind the email pissed me off, and to be frank it's the kind of thing the partner should know anyway!
