How about not having a sig at all?

<Katy Perry> I wanna see your Peacock... oh there it is!
Re: Home CCTV
There's only one solution to this, and it involves discovering a new food.
Yes, I'm saying you urgently need to gobble some cock. In your shoes, I would.

Cool spot
I saw one in t'wild at a golf course* years ago. It ran off part way up a tree, turned round and fixed me with a severe "WTF ARE YOU LOOKING AT CVNT " look. I didn't hang around, I wasn't going to give it the chance to go full Rabbit of Caerbannog on me.
*No, I wasnae playing. I'll find a map...

Re: Home CCTV
It wasn't that weird, dare I wonder how her husband uses the heads for golf? I'm assuming he's not just smacking the crap out of them.
I may have found something even more disturbing

One can only imagine what goes through the mind of a person who combines dead animals together. Serial murderer perhaps, or a Fritzel like character.

nothing as weird as fucking hartlepool monkey hangers

How did you find this in the end?Sundayjumper wrote: ↑Mon Dec 12, 2022 11:03 am There is an utterly baffling range of cameras out there. This was simply the top of my shortlist at the point where I lost the will to live and decided to just buy *something*. It's due to arrive later today. Review to follow eventually.
I need something to connect to my Synology to cover the driveway. I didn't reeally want to go down the Hikvision route because as good as they are, still suspicous of their shenanigans.
Also, is mounting it to the top of the eves on the house really that bad? People say you shouldn't as you can't see faces, but lets be honest, it generally means fuck all anyway in terms of it resulting in any convictions, but it's easier to mount and run cables, plus it's out of reach of any sticky fingers, plus looks tider than being stuck on the front of the house.
The reason for fitting was generally to keep an eye on the driveway, and as a bit of a deterrent.

Re: Home CCTV
Sorry - forgot to get back to you. The original link is dead but I can see it was a HiLook IPC-T280H. It was OK. Definitely better than the no-name rando cameras I started with but although Synology's approved list contains umpteen HiLook / HikVision cameras this one isn't there so it's not fully enabled. It also had some odd resolutions which niggled me unnecessarily.
Just before Christmas I was browsing cameras again and got a good deal on a couple of HikVision DS-2CD2755FWD-IZS. I didn't realise how much bigger they are but it's a good thing. They're very solid (not that the T280H wasn't), they feel like a professional product. Properly supported by Synology. And they have a load of more advanced features that I've not played with yet, like crossing boundaries, so that it'll trigger if someone enters the driveway, but not if I'm just wandering about out there on my own. And the camera resolutions are more sensible !
But the biggest plus is having an optical zoom. This means I've been able to set it up such that the driveway fills the frame properly - not too much, not too little. That allows you to get the best value out of the resolution. I've only fitted one so far, the other I'm planning to have zoomed right in on the entrance to the drive to get a clear view of anyone going in or out.
On top of the eaves ? Or under ? Mine are under, attached to the soffits, the cables then go straight into the loft, nothing exposed. Also, is mounting it to the top of the eves on the house really that bad? Deterrent, yes, the built in IR "flood" light produces a faint but visible red glow at night; anyone with nefarious intentions probably knows to look out for that. The reason for fitting was generally to keep an eye on the driveway, and as a bit of a deterrent.

Re: Home CCTV
Thanks - Hikvision have a massive array of cameras with overlapping functions so trying to pick one out if a nightmare. AcuSense? Colourvu? I'll have a look at the ones you've purchased.
