I drove a mates and enjoyed it, it was everything I hoped a ferrari would be, noisy and fast (enough), it felt like a big elise. He paid 80 grand for it about 10 years ago though and even then I thought there was no way I could bring myself to spend that much money on something that wasn't particularly well built.

Their build quality went through the roof around the same time the original california came out and they started offering 7 year service packages, the 458 that my other mate bought felt like it was genuinely worth every single penny of the 208 grand he paid for it.

You mean the model that set on fire regularly? ;)

I agree though - although it looked more modern than the 355 from the outside the 360 seems to still be from a world where Italian quality control was more of a concept than a reality.

I never desired a 360, and they still dont excite me.

I did drive one, but it was at one of these experience days on an airfield, so enough to get a really strong feel for it. Enjoyed the 996 and Elise (driven atthe same event) more tbh. The much-famed open-gate fezza shift just seemed overly clacky. :?

It’s better looking than the 355...........

Dave!
You were doing so well till that point.

Yes, age has been very kind to the 360's looks, but the 355 is better looking than just about any Ferrari in the last 25 years, FACT.

/thread.
This. It's the first time I've ever had the urge to go and edit someones post. It's just all kinds of wrong.

I’ve just never seen a 355 that didn’t look like a kit car, the 360 looks like a single clean design where the 355 looks like a nice shape with bits put on or cut away.

The 360 I drove had about 50,000 miles on it, everything worked, no squeaks and rattles and the only issue seemed to be quite poor quality leather.

It also took enough stuff for a long weekend of camping with no issues.

I think a CS would be right there on my lottery win list.

Dave!

Much as I love the 355, the 360 has really grown in to its looks over time. Seems to be quite a few examples for 55-60K in a variety of colours, with 30-40,000 miles on the clock. So they look to be about 10K cheaper than similar mileage 355s.

To be honest, the prices of both surprised me. Albeit I've not looked in a while, I expected both to be a lot more money.

I know the old adage, but how bad are the running costs for these in terms of the routine stuff and then the big ones - cam belts I'm guessing?

A yellow 360 pulled up to park next to our campsite at Retro Rides. I was hanging out of my arse and had locked the keys in the boot of the X5 and people around me were dissasembling the gazebo I was sitting in despite the fact it was raining.

I had to go over and have a proper look as I was convinced it was a kit car at first as it looked so shit.

I think it was a combination of the colour, the yellow makes the body look like plastic, plus it had awful yellow valvecaps and other such shit. Certainly isn't one of Ferraris best designs though.

It's the headlights, they look like the typical kitcar solution of bunging a plastic cover over the mounded fibreglass. It's why I only really like them in black, grey or silver I think, I the colours it's normal to have the insides of the headlights painted.

When the M5 was in the local BMW franchise on one of its weekly visits, there was a 355 there with the engine out. I know we're on about 360s here but holy fuck - the quality was astonishingly bad. I reckon a kitcar could easily have been bolted together better!

It goes without saying, btw, that Dave! is so wrong about the 355's looks that I'm actually considering calling the police.

I think it’s why the C6 Corvette also looks plastic, granted it is actually made from plastic and it does look similar to a 360.

Same. I was looking at 355s last month and was surprised they didn't cost more than they do. In fact I think I maybe even posted about it on here, i certainly did somewhere. I guess it's the maintenance, but the fact you can get into one for less than a 964 says loads.

....and at £40k or so it has to be a tempting proposition as a track car. Take it out of the service network and do it all yourself. Stick on some Cup wheels and suspension, a pair of Recaros and go and lap Spa in it a few times each summer. 8-)

Good point, and that is the only one I've ever seen in my life. Point proven then, the 360 is better looking than the 355. 8-)

Again, going off topic but if it were me personally making the decision, I'd be asking whether for that sort of money I wouldn't seek out an early Gallardo instead. I know its apples and oranges given its 2WD versus 4WD but I don't believe the 360 in standard form was ever lauded as being an unbelievable drivers car was it? I thought the reputation at the time was that it was twitchy and not as nice to drive as a 355? The Gallardo is arguably better looking, definitely better made, potentially sounds better depending on the exhaust the ferrari is fitted with and the small matter of almost exactly 100 more horsepower.

Personally I think this one looks pretty sweet: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified ... 000&page=1

MAKE HUGE PROFIT.
