Agreed - my sole Boxster experience was from driving the manual 2.5 a guy I used to work for owned. I thought it was a brilliant little car, and very much a proper Porsche - never really understood the sneering towards them. And that one wasn't even remotely quick - still a lovely drive.

Love it, only ever been in one Porsche and that was hardboiledphils Boxster S round Anglesey. That I still remember every bit of it says it all and I wasn't even driving!

Cheers all 8-) Going to take it out tonight round some local roads and try out the sport and PASM settings.

The car was advertised on AT, it was at the higher end of pricing but we came to a good deal. He'd had a string of people ringing up and telling him he was asking too much but he knew he had a good car for sale so wasn't too fussed about hanging on for a bit.

On the IMS and bore scoring front, he showed me the engine number which fell after Porsche had carried out some revisions so I'm hoping to not have too many issues..

J'approuve! That looks lovely, great purchase mate 👍

Got quite a few Porsche owning tossers on here now, haven't we?

Here was me hoping for another member of the EFLOC to be added as well, but instead you’ve succumbed to the dark side.

Looks banging.

Good choice. Let me know when you are retiring in case I’m ready to sell my 981 GTS!

Tangent, but Paul, you have PM.
Edit - not about the 981, unless you're desperate to sell cheaply

A final update. MOT wasn't due til end of Aug but previous owner offered to put 12 months on and honour any repairs needed. Done this morning with flying colours etc with advisory on rear tyres. He's even transferred the cost of the MOT 8-)

There's some decent local roads round here (Wiltshuurr) and with the recent weather it's been a blast and I've had some good daytime and early evening drives. I've been very impressed with the brakes, they're really progressive with loads of feel allowing you to adjust as and when.

Somewhere inbetween Wootton Bassett and Marlborough:

Are you warrantying it, or going balls to the wind and living on the edge?

I've not thought about it yet. I've never bought an aftermarket warranty so am a bit clueless on who to look at.. if anyone here has any experience then I'm all ears.

I know the car has the later improved IMS bearing so hopefully that mitigates one of the main issues.

They don't really do e-starts (like the 911) - just lots of nasty axle tramp and a smelly clutch. Pleasure gained not worth the clutch and suspension wear IMO.

Generous, and an iffy situation avoided had it needed any work done.

Nice roads round there, we've had a few meets in that area.

This is also why I've not done one on the 330, seems to have more grip than I'd like for a full blown 5k clutch dump.

Yeah could have been a bit awkward, but he knew the car inside out and was confident it would pass with no issues. I've no doubt he would have sorted anything that needed it post MOT too. I'd like to buy his 981 when he trades up again.

He's offered to hook me up with a deal on a Caterham day, which I'll probably take him up on 8-)
