2005 Boxster S 3.2
I've not had anything interesting for a few years and fancied ticking Porsche off the list. From the start I decided I wanted a manual S and the 3.2 over the 3.4. I'm keeping my A5 and the Boxster will be for weekends and when I just fancy a drive. Interestingly, the insurance was nearly £200 cheaper than the Audi.
I used Rich B car-buying logic from the other Boxster thread and swerved dealers and hunted down a pampered, enthusiast owned one. Which is exactly what I've ended up with The owner was a full on car/Porsche nut, he had a 986 previous to this one and on the day of viewing he'd just collected a 981 GTS which was his retirement present. We spent over an hour talking cars, he's going to the Monaco GP next week and one of his sons races (and usually wins) in the Caterham Superlight championship. The car had been garaged, covered, trickle charged, the full works. I hate buying cars, I always think i'm buying someone else's problem, but I had every confidence in this car and the owner.
It's a 2005 55 with 57k miles. It has Bose which sounds just ok. I might look at bluetooth and SD card options for the stereo but I've not decided how bothered I am yet. I've never really liked the 987 interiors, I think the dash looks a bit drab, but the sports chrono adds a little something. Leather's in good nick, as is the hood.
The engine pulls really well and the standard exhaust has a lovely sound to it, something my Elise was lacking. Gearchange is also pleasing. I've not yet explored the handling but it corners very flat and seems very sure-footed even in the wet. In short, I fucking love it.
