I’m struggling to believe this is the first time a JK appearance has led to something like this, they always seem to be such well adjusted and rational members of society on the show...

I can walk around Stockton town centre without hearing 2 chavs screaming “oway then, get on Jeremy Kyle, I’ll do a fucking lie detector” at each other. :) :)

'Bout time.

Don't forget this all started with Jerry Springer. Didn't the TV execs not learn anything?

Funnily enough a friend of mine was featured on 'The Kyle Files' a few weeks ago, on a special about kids dealing with alcoholic parents (she lost her Dad to alcoholism in her teens). As a 'thank you' she got the production company to bring her Mum up to the filming of the JK show, and she got to meet him, see the filming, etc etc. Her Mum's a massive fan, yet she doesn't quite appreciate the irony of her own history and the JK show extorting its participants problems for shock and entertainment.

They apparently didn’t not.

They learned that the advertising money was probably worth a lot more than the lawsuit settlements.

I could never understand why people would agree to go on the show

They were paid cash and promised help. A mate of mine is a scumbag (actually he married into a scumbag family) and knew people that went on there. They made stuff up, essentially, but still got paid.

Ooooh. Ok, that makes more sense to me than the promise of being publicly shamed
