...who suddenly campaign against horse racing on Grand National day but who don’t give a shit the other 363 days that races happen each year.

Well yes, it just strikes me as folk who can’t fit in with one band wagon start their own to oppose it so they don’t fell left out. I have a considerable amount of horse folk on Facebook, this year seems to be the year of supporting and betting on horses in the national which means next year anyone who supports and bets on the national needs sending to hell. Is it just me who notices people swing between for and against horse racing every other year?

Big events spiking people’s interest in a subject?

Surely not...

Is it not about the same number of people who suddenly visit a bookie?

I've given up on horse racing this year ....

They're just naturally faster so I'll stick to Parkrun

Yeah, but I’m seeing stuff from people who’ve never even mentioned animals before suddenly behaving like a teenage girl discovering the word vivisection. It’s just bandwagon jumping, like it’s suddenly fashionable to be anti-GN.

To all of the above (except Mike):

Are these people you know, or people you've seen on social media?

Gotcha.

It's just I know people who seem to get all cross with people they don't know, so had to ask.

I’m not cross, really. More just an eye rolling thing.

Fair enough - I remember a non-kid-having mate of mine getting all hot and bothered about anti-vaxxers, and another mate going "you've got no kids, you're never going to so either find something else to look at online or just shut the fuck up"
